Meet Davin Sutherland | Content Creator and Social Media Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Davin Sutherland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Davin, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote or affirmation is “We Don’t Chase, We Build.”
To me it means that there’s no fast way to success. You can’t chase down being great, you have to get there step by step. VOTC Promotions & Entertainment was built on several small-scale ventures. Each part of my company was created at a stopping point for me in many different fields that I was trying to reach with no plan. Now I’m able to provide those services for others and truly say I’ve built my success on the same things that I stopped chasing into failure.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Along the way in my career i have learned that this is always going to be a learning process. You have to be open to change and be able to adapt with the challenges of the culture. Overcoming challenges and taking risks have gotten me to where I am today. When I decided to stop pursuing a rap career, I wanted to create a business that could help artists like myself prepare for that next step in their careers. Since then I have had the chance to work with some of the biggest names in Dancehall as well as help the indie artist make a name as well. While building my company I’ve noticed that the risks I’ve taken have led to the foundation of VOTC Promotions & Entertainment. Feel free to check out our work online at www.votcpromo.com and votcity.tv coming soon.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was to visit for a week we would start out our week at Gossip Lounge for Pon-A-Monday weekly Caribbean party. Tuesday we would visit DWC Radio Station and have an evening with Sistas On The Go Podcast discussing news and current issues. Wednesday evening we would stop by the famous Chef Tony’s Mid Week fish fry for the best Caribbean food in Atlanta. Thursday we would go to happy hour in the city at Mango’s lounge on the historic Auburn Ave.
The weekend would be split between day and night activities. During the day we would hang out on the stip of Little 5 Points checking out the local arts. Friday and Saturday activities would be up in the air based on what the best party or concert is for the night with Rum Punch Brunch on Sunday would have to be the grand finale

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like you give the upmost love and respect to my son Khalil and my mother who put up with me discovering where my greatness lies through all the ups and downs. My brothers and business family Genesis Media Group for leading by example. And ultimately the entire Atlanta Dancehall and Caribbean community for allowing me to share their lives with the world.
