We had the good fortune of connecting with David Bostic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what is the most important factor behind your success?
There’s so many things that come to mind. But if I had to chose one factor, I would have to say that being authentic has been the most important factor for my success. I’ve grown, and continue to grow my network of resources solely from being a stand up guy.

As for my brand, I would have to say customer service has been the most important factor. I pride myself on making my customers happy. From being flexible with my prices to fit their budgets, to giving away art pieces to random followers. It’s all about making the customers happy and building a community of positive vibes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Please tell us more about your art.

My art is unique and forever evolving. I’m like a sponge when it comes to art and the art community. I’m constantly seeking knowledge and elevating my craft and creativity. I have a lot of new pieces dropping soon so stay tuned for that.

What you are most proud of or excited about?

I’m most proud of my perseverance and growth. There has been many trials and tribulations which could have caused me to give up. My vision remained clear and I’m still at it.

What you are most excited about?

Right now I’m most excited about the pieces I’m currently creating for a few high profile entertainers. These will for sure give my brand the boost it needs. I’m also excited my collection entitled “Currency Exchange” that will be releasing around Christmas time. Stay tuned for that also.

How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

I got to where I am through vision, faith and hard work. As soon as I began creating wood art I immediately seen the vision of what could be. This is a niche market and the product possibilities are endless. I knew if I continued improving my woodworking skills and learned more about marketing, it could grow into whatever I wanted it to. I knew it wouldn’t be easy. Being that this was my first time woodworking, I actually expected a few setbacks along my journey. Having this mentality from the start has allowed me to keep my faith high during the tougher times.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

I learned that planning ahead and being organized is key. Not only in business, but also in our everyday lives. I also learned the power of utilizing my network. The phrase “Self Made” is a myth. Once you truly understand the power of having a solid network, you understand the phrase is actually counterproductive. I’ve been able to expedite my progress and avoid a lot of stressful situations by tapping into my network. Couldn’t imagine trying to do it all alone.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I want the world to know that I am a dope wood artist who creates dope wooden art pieces. As for the brand, we’re just getting started. So much new, elevated art on the way. I can’t wait to share it with you all!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m honestly a homebody, so I wouldn’t be the best tour guide for the city. Lol I like scenic trails, waterfalls, and other chill, outdoorsy things like that. I do like the drinks and vibes at The Cooper Cove in Buckhead though. That’s my go to spot when I need a little turn up in my life lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to a book titled “Strengths Finders 2.0” by Tom Rath. There’s several books I could mention, but this book truly changed my life. From the time we’re born society conditions us to focus heavily on our flaws. So throughout our lives we’re constantly focusing on what we can’t do and what we aren’t good at. This book does the opposite. It helps you to discover your strengths and build upon them. It gives you advice on how to utilize those strengths on a daily basis to benefit your life. Highly recommend it!
