We had the good fortune of connecting with Darrius McClain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darrius, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
One of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make, was moving from South Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia. Although it was hard, it was one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made. I was fearful of a new beginning. I was afraid to step outside of the box. I didn’t want to leave what was familiar to me and because of that, it was difficult yet one of the most rewarding things ever.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Everything started with the release of my most recent book called Legacy Vol. 1: Refining Sonship. I stepped out on faith to write the book, not realizing the impact it would have on me and other people. As a result of the completion of my book, I wanted some merch to help bring momentum to the sales and excitement of becoming a newly published author. What started as a few T-Shirts and hoodies has now become an entire clothing brand business. Thus, the Legacy Collection was born. Now, I am the CEO of the Legacy Collection Brand, LLC and I’m building my brand to be one of the best we’ve seen yet.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Atlanta. One of the most fun and exciting cities in America. If I had to plan a weekend trip for my friends or anyone visiting, I would start on Friday. We would take the whole day to visit 6 Flags for some theme park fun with games and thrill rides. Plenty of food places in the park itself. Afterwords, we would rest and prepare for Saturday. Saturday, I would take them to the Stonecrest Mall in Lithonia for a day of shopping. Saturday evening around 7pm I would take them to church at Dominion Atlanta for some encouragement, inspiration and spiritual breakthrough. Sunday, we would have brunch at Milk & Honey in Decatur and end the night at the Trap Museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Since moving to Atlanta, one of the biggest influences on my life has been my Pastor, Geneses Warren. Her mentorship, wisdom and leadership has shaped me as a better person, leader, entrepreneur and a man of faith. She’s challenged me in every area of my life and pushed me to never settle for anything less than the best. She’s been so encouraging and supportive of everything I do, and even when I make mistakes, she corrects me with love. I honestly couldn’t imagine where or what my life would be like without her.
