We had the good fortune of connecting with Darren Paltrowitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darren, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Learning to “work backwards” has helped me in many areas of my life. I think about the goal or ideal ending, then break everything down into smaller steps, and put it all on my calendar. Many seemingly-tough things are attainable if you look at the big picture and don’t rush through them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have three different jobs or careers that are unrelated but often intersect in some form. I am a licensed Private Investigator, I am a writer (I tape interviews more days than not), author (I have a book about Van Halen singer David Lee Roth slated to come out in 2023) and host (my “Paltrocast” show is on 50+ channels and digital stations a week), and I am a consultant related to entertainment projects. But all of them require me to be organized, deadline-oriented, well-researched and on-the-ball with communication.

It has not been an easy path to get to where I am now, since it came from a lot of trial and error. But within the last few years, I have realized that it was all worth it to get here. These days, there is never a shortage of fun, interesting and/or challenging things for me to work on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If they are visiting me here in Long Beach — a city on its own barrier island, yet considered part of Long Island, New York — the season dictates what we are doing.

If it’s happening in the summer, we’ll start out on the beach in the late morning or early afternoon, cool off indoors for a few hours, then walk or cycle along the boardwalk to the West End for dinner and/or drinks. If it’s happening during the fall or winter, probably no beach time, but still checking out a few spots in town. Occasionally, we’ll venture a few towns over to experience a few different breweries or distilleries.

Long Beach has lots to do, yet sometimes the walk or ride to get to your plans is a large part of the overall fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Family — especially my wife (Melissa), my parents (Stu and Donna Paltrowitz), my and my siblings (Adam and Shari). They have all been very supportive of my artistic endeavors and my overall career path.
