We had the good fortune of connecting with Daria Wigglesworth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daria, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
You don’t know whether you should keep going or give up? Let me tell you, there are days when I want to call it quits but then I realize I put way too much work into myself and my business to simply throw it all away. I didn’t start this 4 years ago with plans to eventually stop believing in myself. So, giving up is not an option for me. If you have a vision for your brand, it’s important to execute that vision. Once you do that, more ideas will surface to keep you going. I get better everyday with my business and my skills. I feel like that constant growth is also what keeps me going.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m Daria, the owner of SheIsLashed, LLC. I started SheIsLashed January, 2018 and I can’t believe it’s going on 4 years now. We offer lash extension services, lash products, lash trainings and a lifetime mentorship for all students we train! What I’m most proud of is the fact that I didn’t give up on my business during the hardest times which for me was in the beginning when I was just getting started. I became a little discouraged at first because starting a business isn’t easy. You don’t gain clientele overnight. Everything takes time but I’m proud of the fact that I’m still going. I’m excited for the upcoming months and years ahead because of the plans I have for my business. I know unexpected blessings are ahead.

I got to where I am today business-wise with hard work, perseverance and dedication. I started doing lashes my sophomore year of college. I graduated from Hampton University in May, 2020. Juggling school, extracurricular activities and doing lashes was a handful but I managed by staying organized. Staying consistent is how I overcame each challenge. The moment you don’t stay consistent, things start to go downhill. This is also how you can lose motivation and possibly give up.

Being a business-woman has taught me a lot. A few lessons I’ve learned along the way are:

1. Trial and error is bound to happen. Learn how to adjust and keep going. Make everything good and bad a learning experience.

2. Everyone can’t make it to the top with you.

3. You can’t help those who don’t want to be helped.

4. Stay knowledgeable by reading books and practicing new skill sets.

5. Be personable when it comes to your clients.

I want the World to know that SheIsLashed, LLC and I thrive on authenticity. It’s important to be yourself and stay true to who you are. I’m true to my business, my personality and values regardless of any pressure coming my way. That’s why I’m respected by my peers. I would also like the World to know that if you’re a business owner out there, KEEP GOING. No matter what adversity comes your way, keep going and don’t give up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her to brunch in DC.  A great brunch spot is Park at 14th! We would restaurant/bar hop because food is sooo good! Some great restaurants are RPM, Hanks Oyster Bar, and Ocean Prime. We would visit a bunch of museums in DC and take lots of fun pics. I’d also plan for us to go to an amusement park, go bowling and just cruise around the city. Shopping would definitely be included so I’d take her to the mall.
