We had the good fortune of connecting with Dara Tice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After my father passed in 2020 I realized how few pictures I had of him. My opportunity to capture my relationship with my father had passed but I knew I could help others not miss their chance to have heirloom photography for themselves. I have always loved photography and wanted my passion to become my career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Capturing the love and relationships of my clients is the in forefront of my mind with every session. The images I deliver should be beautiful and timeless, images that will be treasured for generations to come. My perspective is that the client is the star of the show. I want candid images that they can look back upon and remember what a fun and easy time they had with me as their photographer. I strive to have quick and clear communication so each client feels comfortable and heard. Professional photography is a luxury and can be an expensive piece of a bride or family’s budget, I respect that they are spending their hard earned money with me and my business. I want each client walking away feeling that they received a great value and want to continue to choose me over the years to document the special moments of their particular family. My favorite thing is to watch families grow right in front of my lens! With this perspective on business it has been fairly easy to build a clientele. People appreciate being appreciated!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love eating! There are tons of amazing restaurants and a tour of food would always be the way to go to show friends a good time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedicated to my father who constantly and consistently encouraged entrepreneurship in me. As a little girl, and into adulthood he reiterated the value of owning and operating a business that I was passionate about.
