We had the good fortune of connecting with Danon Vaughn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind me starting my business was to help my community by reaching out to share cyber security awareness. By starting with small businesses I feel like I could protect those businesses, people and neighbors around me as business grows I continue to find ways to develop and grow partnerships with larger companies to create better pricing and better opportunities for small businesses to stay protected using the latest technology.

What should our readers know about your business?
You know when it comes to Cyber Security, I have a real passion for it.

It took me a while to realize my place inside of a security but now that I have a vision, I can see the urgent need for cyber security in the small business market. With over 20 years of experience starting from a IT Operations perspective I’ve been able to take cyber security awareness and understanding and bring that to small businesses and that is a big part of what we do. What we are most proud of is what we do through cyber security outreach events that educate the community and give back so that we all stay cyber aware. Our brand is human focused cyber security!

When I think about what it takes to get to where I am today, I would say it was not easy. I am a serial entrepreneur and I have had a total of three different businesses and all of them have been technology related. I enjoy business ownership but to get past to the point where you are running your business and doing what you love takes time, you have built up a strong operational foundation and have the necessary resources in place. All those things take time, so it is not easy but having a right team of people who are supportive has help Ransom Shield reach many milestones.

When it comes to facing challenges, I have learned to stick with it. Some weeks you may want to just give up but that’s OK! Sit on that idea, let it come back to you and you will have a new perspective on it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now I’m all about breakfast so if someone’s coming to Atlanta, we’re going to have a great breakfast every day. We would have to go to my favorite breakfast spot, Flying Biscuit, but the Breakfast Boys have jerk chicken and sweet potatoes waffles so that covers brunch. After that we must head over to our favorite Mexican cantina, Coyotes in Decatur and have some margaritas. We can then sit back, have a good lunch and discuss a little business, but keep it relaxed. You can always end the week @Ponce City Market and have dinner with the after-work crowd. And of course, we would wrap it up with the guys down at ATLANTUCKY Brewery and grab some craft beer for the evening.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to my family for always being supportive of Ransom Shield I like to give a shout out to Joe Dorsey who helps keep things moving forward with Ransom Shield and Beverly Wright for her Security knowledge and willingness to support the vision of Ransom Shield. I would also like to shout out CryptoChic for sharing the knowledge on crypto security, and all the community outreach groups that have worked with us to help bring cyber security awareness to our community.
