Meet Daniella Munoz | Creative and Floral artist.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniella Munoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniella, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
There is a book that definitely changed me: Just Kids by Patti Smith.
What impacted me the most about this book is that while I was reading it, I finally felt understood. Being born in a traditional country like Costa Rica is easy to feel like you don´t belong, especially if you have a thirst for art, adventures, and spiritual quest.
The way in which Patti and Robert pursued art and love despite the struggles of life ignited in me the fire of strength and braveness to do exactly that.
To be a witness of the possibility to authentically love in a non-normative way felt also like breathing fresh air for the first time.
As well as dismantling the myth of arts equals drugs.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It took a lot of resilience, trust in the Universe, internal quest, external quest, heartbreaks, adventures, self-doubt, surrender, and love to get to where I am today.
Being able to express myself with the use of flowers and nature has been a wonderful journey. In flowers, I feel the authenticity and freedom I´ve always been looking for. I´ve painted, draw, and being a graphic designer for a very long time now but nothing has made me feel so free and light as flowers do.
A sensibility towards flowers woke up after spending a long time in an ashram in Italy, I guess I´ve always had it but now its understanding became more spiritual, and it opened a communication channel between me and them. I feel very connected to flowers and my art is based on listening to them, it´s pure meditation.
I find great inspiration in the ancient Japanese culture and how they have mastered floral art as a spiritual practice. The aesthetic and spiritual concepts of Wabi-Sabi play a huge role in my work.
During my time in the ashram and thanks to my spiritual teacher, I´ve learned to make an offering out of everything I do. Picking the flowers, arranging them, and deliver them becomes an offering to the higher self, to Mother Nature, to God.
My brand is called amma as a tribute to the great Spiritual Teacher: Mata Amritananda Mayi, known as Amma.
And my goal with amma is to share the impermanence of beauty, the perfect imperfection of Nature, and the eternity of conscious love.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, Covid has changed my perception of everything. Before the pandemic this was an easy question to answer, I´ve always been a sucker for cute coffee shops, art galleries, museums, and intimate pubs. But now, I really enjoy the peacefulness of my rose plant crowded balcony, the quietness of a mountain top, and the freshness of a cold water river.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is dedicated to my ollie or die, Laura Gomez, my best friend.
She has believed in me more than I´ve believed in myself. It has been an absolute pleasure to grow old, wiser, empowered along with her.
