We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. I am very grateful to have grown in a very supportive and loving family that blessed me with many opportunities, specially in a country where the day to day for most people is really difficult. I gave my family a really hard time growing up. I used to get in all sorts of trouble and unfortunately, I hurt them a lot. Nevertheless, they never gave up on me and our relationship today is beautiful.

Among these opportunities I was blessed with, were education and being abroad by myself. I had the opportunity of studying Marketing in my country, and then, Film Production here in the United States. I also did some radio studies and French classes at some point in Canada. I lived in different places such as Toronto, Montreal, Orlando, and Atlanta. I consider that traveling has helped me a lot to trust myself more and be adaptable. As well as to enjoy solitude.

Since my father is a very hard working person, I learned from him to work. I started working as soon as I was old enough, legally speaking; to be able to afford my own expenses when I went out. I was working full time and studying at nights and Saturdays back in the day. I have worked in so many different types of jobs, from office work to dishwashing, to being a paper boy. Working in different jobs can be humbling and make one appreciate their current job or career path. It will be a rollercoaster no matter which path one picks, it is choosing the rollercoaster one is willing to deal with. My mother taught me the importance of having friends and enjoying life, and my brother taught me the importance of being a good son to my parents. I was also taught values and principles that make me who I am today.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Night Owl Studios is a video post-production company in Atlanta, Georgia. Our service is tailor-made to our customers’ needs and very personalized. We start something and make sure it is delivered to satisfaction. This is done through our network of creatives we have gathered throughout our time in operation and in life in general. We have capabilities of doing from online editing to 3D modeling VFX and Sound Mixing and Mastering for any type of project at reasonable rates.

Having a business has been the toughest experience in my life and sometimes I feel like giving up. I feel defeated. I feel exhausted. I can’t sleep. I question myself, I get anxiety. BUT I have faith in what we can do and I understand that this is the rollercoaster I chose. There will always be problems, and one must understand that, this doesn’t mean it should be the focus point (solutions is where it’s at). Learning and getting experience will also help to overcome many challenges and problems.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are many things to do in the city. I would probably take them to the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, a drive around downtown, an Atlanta United soccer match, and to eat Korean BBQ. Saturday night the party is at Los Recuerdos (Colombian restaurant) in Lawrenceville. I consider CNN, The Coca-Cola World, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and Ponce de Leon Market are also worth watching. For those who like to walk, the Atlanta BeltLine and Stone Mountain should be a good time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God and my family will always have the first and most important shoutouts. It is them who I owe everything to! I would also like to give a special shoutout to all my teammates from Night Owl (Laighlah, Max, Tony), James Kamawe from Circle Group Media and my friends from Studio 507 (Ford and Scott). Everything that we have accomplished has been a team effort, without the team, none of it would have been possible. There is power in numbers!
