We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Oehrke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk-taking is not for everybody but you can be rewarded highly by taking the right risk. If I had not taken certain risks with my business and my life I would not have succeeded the way I did. My mentality is the risk makes sense if the profit margin allows, and the level of commitment, work ethic, and determination is high enough to bring to about results needed. I ask myself, am I committed enough to make this actually happen and if not I better get ready to.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a reclaimed wood store that provides antique recycled wood from 100-200 year old structures for furniture and decorative use inside homes and businesses. We also build custom furniture. What sets us apart is our community of woodworkers, builders, home owners and interior designers who share the love for the story of reclaimed wood. Our clients love to see old beaten up wood become something beautiful. In a way we can all relate to the story of this type of redemption even in our own life’s. We love that providing special unique pieces of history also provides value to our clients and their homes.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to six-flags, belt-line and ponce-city market.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My brother and partner Jeremiah Oehrke. He sticks with the company when it’s hard and is willing to work through any obstacles in our relationship when it comes to the business. He is a different personality then I am so it brings balance to the company.
