Meet Daniel Baruch | Person in Long-Term Recovery & Founder of Rise Up Recovery Residences

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Baruch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was the program director for a sober living program out in Fulton County. I remember waking up just after midnight on April 2, 2020. It hit me right then. I’m done working for someone else. What I was doing for work was exactly what saved my life and I knew I could do it better. I had the perfect name-Rise Up Recovery Residences. The very next day I filed the LLC and started working on the website. Three months to that day Rise Up Recovery Opened it’s doors. Since then I’ve made it my purpose to provide a safe, secure, and structured sober living environment so the men in my program can equip themselves with the tools and build the necessary foundation to live a life in long-term recovery.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Rise Up Recovery is not your average Recovery Residence. We offer a high level of freedom while at the same time we counter that with a high level of accountability. What makes me proud is being in the position to walk alongside the men in my program, to meet them truly where they are at in life and watch them grow.
The reason I am here is due to my ability to lean on those around me, those that have came before me and know a whole lot more than I do. On my own there are many things I will accomplish but surrounding myself with people that are better than me will allow me to make Rise Up Recovery Great.
In order to be able to do any of this I had to get out of my own way, stop thinking I know everything and ask for help. One of the most difficult things to do in my life. Asking for help has never been easy, it was determined about 6 months into my recovery that I would never grow if I didn’t ask for help, if I didn’t look to others experiences, if I didn’t seek guidance through this new landscape.
I’ve learned that there is no getting over something, it’s only going through it. That is how I persevere, that is how I grow. There was no easy way around it, I had to force myself to get uncomfortable to once again find comfort.
The harder I resist change, the more difficult it becomes. Jump all the way in!
I am no one special…really just a regular dude that really struggled with drugs. I met some awesome people, built truly meaningful relationships and somehow through all that I greatly enhanced my life. All that has led me to trying to be the person that Mason was for me for the guys that I work with today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is nothing better than sharing things I love with the people I love. First I’ll be introducing them to the family and having them meet my fiance and step kids.
It’d be pretty neat to introduce them the friends I’ve made in GA.
I love the mountains so I’d probably take them out to Elijay for the day or maybe Lake Burton and we could rent a cabin for a few nights.
For sure we are doing dinner at my Fiances’ for her famous enchiladas!
Gotta go to JINYA Ramen
Last night we are gonna make it a Saturday night…getting Wings from UPTOWN Wings in Sugar Hill, GA….FIIIIREEEEE
and close out the night with an awesome UFC Paperview fight lol
The destination was never that important…It’s who I am with that makes moments meaningful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shout out to my all my family especially Mom-Zana Dad-Robert and Sister Carla. The support of my fiance has been instrumental in me standing strong in what I believe in. She has been with me since the start of it all and stands by my side no matter what. Her name is Kerry.
Last but not least Mason Clements was the Program Director at the program I went to back in 2015. Without this Mason, there would not be the man I see in the mirror today and there certainly would be no Rise Up Recovery. Mason brought me to a place in my life that I was finally able to believe in myself. There are so many others that have played an integral part, so many that have inspired me and given me hope.
Without all these people and all these experiences I would never been able to do the work on myself necessary to grow in to the man I am today.rsonalDanielBaruch__
