We had the good fortune of connecting with Danie B. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danie, do you have a budget?
Yes, I do have a budget. All I can transparently say is, it is NOT easy. I am a single mother and I don’t have a high paying job outside of my business. Deciding when it’s right to take a risk and invest in my business with my personal finances is never an easy decision. I like to write out my monthly finances and when I have wiggle room I take it to invest into my business. A lot of times this means cutting out on fun, sacrificing a steak meal for a sandwich, and even the pain of not being able to award my son things he request but, I see the bigger picture and how investing into my business will, in the long run, help me not have to worry about making these kinds of decisions in the future.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my personal life I am a Flight Attendant for a mainline airline. I’m new to this career but it was not an easy path to take. It took a lot of personal and financial sacrifices to get started along with a lot of perseverance and dedication. Being able to focus on and accomplish the goal of making it through training with my airline reminded me that I can persevere through any and everything I put my mind to including running my business. I’ve ran Privacy Intimates as a one woman show for four years now and the pressure and stress of doing every single thing alone is overwhelming but going through my journey of becoming a flight attendant reminded me how much I can accomplish whatever I put my mind to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a hiker so I would definitely take Bestie to hike the Bamboo Forrest. We would grab food from two of my favorite places; Divan and Breakfast at Barney’s. First Friday’s or Jazz Friday at the High Museum of Arts would be a must. We probably would also do something random and fun like a glass-blowing or rug making class. Lastly, an R&B night at a local spot so we could sing ad dance our lives away.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends deserve the shoutout because they keep me motivated and encouraged. If it weren’t for my family and friends I honestly would have given up. Them simply saying “I’m proud of you” or even sharing my business with another friend or family member is a constant motivation.
