We had the good fortune of connecting with Danah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danah, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
If you go to sleep thinking about your business/idea and wake up thinking about your business/idea. If the thought of you not pursuing your business makes you uncomfortable, then you have to keep going. If your business is something you feel like you birthed then there’s no way you can give up on that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m excited about the fact that i finally made the choice and had the courage to step down from my full-time position to part time position after years of working with the company. I had to shift my focus to working on myself, developing my skills and running my business. I’m so proud of myself because that is a scary transition, there are so many “bad” things that can happen right, but i try not to dwell on “bad” things that may happen and stay focused on the good things happening now. I’m still new to the Entrepreneur life so some of the challenges are still trying to overcome..lol. But I overcome my challenges in a few different ways..I step away for a little bit then come back to it, I pray over them, I talk to my people about them. Lessons I’ve learned you have to value your time, set healthy boundaries, be mindful how you speak to people, and always get a deposit..lol. I would like the world to know that for myself and my brand its about more than just makeup, every client or potential client that i speak to, i genuinely want to get to know them, and they can feel that. You become an important part of their special moment, you are now a part of that memory in their life that they won’t forget. I love that my business allows me to build actual relationships with my clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would be eating all week..all day..everyday. Parks, gardens, museums maybe do some shopping if we were going to brunch or an event. I find people watching so interesting, it makes me wonder. i can have fun almost anywhere with the right people. As far as places and things to check out there are too many to list.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family!!..even the friends in my life that i consider family…they keep me grounded. They are always encouraging me and talking life into me, they correct in love and they support me in anyway i need them to. They are just amazing!.
