We had the good fortune of connecting with Dalby Biehl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dalby, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I have always liked taking risks and being impulsive, and that is probably why I enjoy music so much. When I’m performing live, I typically never play a song the same way twice. It’s always fun to change a song up in a way that can elevate the performance and in these situations, risks pay off. I always make last minute changes and I like to add ideas to video shoots, photo shoots, performances, and studio sessions that will either be rejected (because they’re crazy) or executed (because they’re awesome). I think taking risks is a huge part of life and I never want to be limited in what I can do creatively. Risks can turn into mistakes or they can pay off in an amazing way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Songwriting has always been a passion of mine, even before I began participating in it myself. I had always loved songs that had extremely deep lyrics and meanings, and I would spend a lot of time researching songs I liked to find the meaning and inspiration behind them so I could relate to them more. For me, I am most proud of the way that I reflect my love for songwriting in everything that I do. I don’t typically write songs about my own life, but I write songs based off of what I see, what I’m told, and what I observe from things and people around me. When people listen to my music, I want them to picture their own lives rather than mine, because I’m a fifteen-year-old girl and I don’t have the life experience that many other people do. Singing has always come easy to me, and songwriting just made sense. The hardest part for me is trying not to get frustrated when a song that I’m writing doesn’t immediately get completed. The music industry is all about patience and timing, and I have always been a person who wants things done as soon as possible. I have gotten a lot better at taking my time and appreciating every part of the process. I would say that I. am most proud of my performances in Los Angeles that have happened over the past few months. It is so fun to be in that city and I have recorded some songs there that I am absolutely dying to share with you all!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I live in the suburbs of Atlanta, which are extremely boring (sorry not sorry). But if I were to have a friend here, I would go into the city and go see a concert or a Braves game and get dinner in Atlanta. The thing about Atlanta is that it is such a diverse and interesting city that you have to dedicate a large amount of time out of your day to experience the main attractions. I wish I got down to the city more, but I’m probably in Los Angeles more than Atlanta. I absolutely adore Los Angeles, and I think it is such an interesting and vibrant city full of talent and crazy experiences.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have always been extremely close with my family, and my mom, dad, and brother have been so supportive and so amazing during the beginning of my career. My dad, in particular, takes me to all of my studio sessions, whether they’re in Atlanta or Los Angeles, and he is very involved in the business portion of the industry to make sure I am being taken care of. My management team, David and Necia Gates, are like my second parents and they have also been so incredible and have given me opportunities that I would have never believed I would be doing a few years ago. I am so grateful for everyone who surrounds me and supports me, but these people in particular have been absolutely phenomenal.
