We had the good fortune of connecting with Curtis Walters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Curtis, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’m always on the lookout for new ways to solve existing challenges or building solutions for new problems. In the case of NearDrone, we saw an opportunity to bring experience with drone videography and content creation and apply that to businesses that are only familiar with more traditional media and advertising.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What we want the world to know about NearDrone is that we’re not just a business; we’re storytellers in the sky. Our brand is built on a foundation of creativity, professionalism, and a dedication to capturing everyday locations from completely new perspectives. We’re excited about the future of aerial videography and the unique content and value we will bring to our clients’ projects.

Our journey to where we are today has not been without its challenges. Building NearDrone required dedication, persistence, and a passion for innovation. We faced regulatory hurdles and technical complexities in the drone industry. However, by staying updated with regulations, investing in training, and continually refining our processes, we overcame these obstacles.

The key lessons we’ve learned along the way are the importance of adaptability and the value of customer relationships. Adapting to evolving drone technology and regulations has been essential. We’ve also learned that open communication and understanding our clients’ needs are crucial to delivering exceptional results.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start outdoors up at the Blankets Creek Bike Trails up in Canton. It’s fall so the weather is perfect and the leaves are just starting to change. Next we’d head down to Truist Park and catch some Braves playoff action! If we don’t have time to sit down in the Battery I’d grab a Fox Brothers brisket sandwich inside the stadium.

After a Braves win, we’d finish up at Little Alley Steak in Buckhead and split a tomahawk steak and a few pours of bourbon. That’d be a pretty good day in ATL.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I need to thank my parents for instilling an entrepreneurial spirit in me and for teaching me the value of a good honest hard day’s work. A book that has inspired me is James Clear’s Atomic Habits. The power of marginal gains and seeking to become 1% better each day just makes sense and inspires me.
