We had the good fortune of connecting with Cubeon Washington, PhD and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cubeon, what makes you happy? Why?
My family makes me happy. I prayed and waited nearly two decades for a family to call my own. I’ve wanted to be a wife and mother for as long as I could remember. I was the little girl marrying Barbie and Ken. I daydreamed about what it would be like to be married. As life would have it, my greatest desires were put on hold. I spent over 16 years single.

I married much later in life than I had hoped for. However, by the grace of God I married my best friend, my king, Addison Washington just one year ago. As God would have it, we conceived our honeymoon baby and welcomed our daughter Addilyn Reign into this world a few months ago. I went from being alone to a family of four almost overnight (I have a bonus son). Being a wife and mother makes me tremendously happy. There are days that I look in amazement at the family I prayed so long for.

What should our readers know about your business?
In 2019 I founded Helpmeet Prep Academy (HPA) mentoring program. The purpose of the program is very unique in that HPA was created to train and develop women into becoming Helpmeets (kingdom wives) in accordance with Genesis 2:18, all while propelling them into their purpose. It’s important for us as women to know how to balance being powerful with being a wife. I am passionate about helping women learn to be feminine and fierce. In my experience, far too often educated, independent, successful women feel as though they need to dim their light if they want to be married. That’s completely unnecessary. They only need to learn the skillset of a Helpmeet.

One of my greatest challenges as a mentor has been getting single women that desperately want to be married to shift their attention to identifying their purpose in life and launching into it. The women of HPA are utilizing the remainder of their single season to learn how to be a wife, heal from past trauma, develop businesses, start ministries and become first time authors.

It blesses me to watch women get married after breaking repeated cycles of failing relationships or long periods of singleness. It blesses me to walk with women through their inner healing and get set free from the pain of their past. It blesses me to watch women gain their confidence and develop the boldness to launch into their purpose.

I simply want the world to know that Helpmeet Prep Academy exists!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Great question!

Without a doubt the first stop would be at Addison’s Place. Okay, it’s not a real restaurant (yet) but the food is delicious! My husband, Addison, is king of the grill and the kitchen. When family and friends visit he always rolls out the red carpet in the kitchen so to speak. Jerk chicken, buttery melt in your mouth shrimp, sizzling steak, oysters, grilled salmon and shrimp dip are a few of his specialties. We’d invite over our local friends to help enjoy the feast and fellowship.

Our visits always include a girl’s day at the nail salon. Shopping at Bridge Street would be mandatory. At night we would visit the Stovehouse to listen to the live R&B band. We’d have sushi from I Love Sushi. Our itinerary would also include dinner at one of Huntsville’s newer restaurants, Tom Brown.

The wonderful thing about Huntsville, AL is that it is centrally located and within a few hours you could be in another great city. We would most definitely make a trip to Atlanta, Georgia. There’s so much to do there! From shopping, to eating and listening to live music.

One of my most favorite things in the world to do is visit vineyards and do wine tastings. My favorite place for that right now is Chateau Elan Winery and Resort right outside of Atlanta. Chateau Elan has a wine called Velvet. It’s a red wine that’s vibrant, powerful and as smooth as its name. It’s the perfect balance. I always have a great time there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to my mentor Yvette Benton. She was a divine connection that was necessary for me to elevate. Meeting her was confirmation of the life purpose I felt was chasing me. I reached out to her after watching her broadcasts about marriage. After having a dream that encouraged me to reach out I sent her a message wondering if she was going to think I was crazy.

Her ministry at the time had a focus on marriage reconciliation. I was single as a dollar bill. However, as a single person I had been studying marriage for years. My desire was to not repeat the marital mistakes of my parents. It’s not normal in our society for singles to study marriage prior to saying I do. However, I felt strongly we should learn about marriage prior to entering it in order to avoid future issues. To my surprise not only did she not think I was crazy but she was excited to mentor a single person. She shared my same thoughts towards marriage preparation.

My connection to her has been a tremendous blessing. Her love, encouragement and apostolic leadership catapulted me into the next level of entrepreneurship. I now have my own mentoring group, Helpmeet Prep Academy, where I am training women (single, divorced and married) in several countries to be Helpmeets (kingdom wives).
