We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Jade Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal Jade, how does your business help the community?
It’s been refreshing and so beautiful to see how Spa Science brings people together. From the first time we hosted a Spa Science party, we were amazed by the conversations we heard. While we’re together mixing fragrances, the joy, the peace of mind, the pause from all the outside noise – all of it just settles. People start to share everything from their candle-making ingredients to their hopes and dreams, and its a wonderful energy to build and be a part of. We need that in our community, even if its just for an hour, and I’m so happy Spa Science can provide that.

What should our readers know about your business?
Spa Science launched in February 2021 with an inaugural collection called For My Girl. It was inspired by friendship, particularly one that is dear to my heart. We couldn’t really travel and I wanted to reach out and touch one of my closest friends who lives across the country. That idea turned into a monthly candle release concept that I just kept building on. I ended up sending sample candles to more friends and family, who shared with their friends and family. We launched the site with 50 candles and in 48 hours everything was sold out, just from word of mouth.

So far we’ve been focused on releasing consistent high-quality candles and growing a solid customer base. This year we can focus more on our brand expression, like our product packaging and some other creative projects I’m so excited for everyone to see.

I’m hyped right now because we’re coming up on our one-year anniversary and the same customers who showed up on day one are still shopping with us. We’re a candle and fragrance company for sure, but the vision is bigger. It’s really about cultivating both our network and our own herbs. It’s self love, it’s exploration and celebration of sanctuary. It’s life beauty, homegrown. That’s the Spa Science brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friends and I like to luxuriate so there will definitely be a lot of that going on during the week. On Friday, we need to stop by After 5 Studio to get some new ink with Roger, then we can hit Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles in College Park. On Saturday, we’ll go to a fitness class at Snap Fitness in Hampton (the best Snap Fitness in GA) to get some exercise in before we have brunch at Murphy’s. Negril Village on Sunday is a must.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everything I do is a family affair and I cannot thank my family enough for supporting everything I do.

Breanna Bertrand, the beautiful genius who supports all of the marketing endeavors for Spa Science: I’m so grateful for your commitment.

My Bison family, my Goizueta family and close friends who have always supported me through all my creative projects, love y’all for real.

To my brilliant little inspiration Noah who loves science almost as much as I love him: at the top it’s just us!
