We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Brown, MBA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA! Yes, I am an original peach.

On the eastside of Atlanta, I grew up in a low-income neighborhood called East Lake Meadows. As a child, I was raised in a Christian home by both my mother and father. As a result of my faith-based background and humble upbringing, I am the woman I am today. It is through Christ that I am able to accomplish all things. To put it simply, “I believe…If God is guiding me, there is nothing I cannot accomplish.”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name of my business is BrandMeBeautifully, LLC. I established the business in 2019, following several career changes resulting from a layoff that occurred in 2016. I grew weary of experiencing periodic layoffs and contending with the demands of climbing the corporate ladder, often requiring significant sacrifices. Today, I am delighted to announce that I have officially hired my first employee and am actively engaged in strategizing for the successful expansion of my business.

Being the owner and operator of my company, as well as handling all contractual work, was undeniably challenging. Recently, I completed my Master of Business Administration degree, and balancing a full-time job with a thriving business on the side presented numerous obstacles. The lessons I have gleaned on my journey to business success underscore the importance of refraining from mixing business with personal matters and avoiding unrealistic expectations. To achieve growth, one must invest in their business, product, and knowledge; there is no alternative route.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be candid, I am more of a homebody, and I typically spend a significant amount of time with my fiancé and family. Should my bestfriend come in town this would be my itinerary:

On Monday, I would likely invite my best friend to join me for a round of golf, followed by a delightful evening enjoying some seafood dip at J’s Alexander in Dunwoody.

Moving on to Tuesday, our agenda might include attending a play or a business event found on Eventbrite, followed by indulging in takeout from Goodfellas on 14th Street.

As for Wednesday, we would probably venture out for some karaoke, although the specific location is still up in the air – I’m not entirely certain yet!

Thursday is reserved for me to prepare a home-cooked meal for my guest and to get ready for an extended weekend of activities.

When Friday rolls around, I would plan to take my guest to an indoor skydiving facility and then explore Ponce City Market.

Saturday would be an ideal day for a shopping excursion with my friend, perhaps picking up a charming gift from Nordstrom and concluding the evening with dinner at Two Urban Licks.

Lastly, on Sunday, my friend and I might attend a church service at Embassy City to round off our week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shout out is dedicated to my mother Tammie Brown aka momma Tammie. I consider my mother to be the true definition of a mother. I owe a great deal of gratitude to my mother for giving me and my siblings the love, attention, nurturing, and support we needed to succeed and navigate through life.
