We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting this business was leaving a legacy, something that I can pass on to my kids and their kids. I had a lot of experience in the industry as I was working for a big fortune 500 transportation company. I wanted to apply my knowledge and skillset in my own unique and creative way. I also wanted to make an impact in the industry and put my touch on the services that are needed in the industry. Doing something bigger than myself!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Wisconsin Bred – I am proud to say. I am from Milwaukee, WI and that is how I came up with my company name – Wisco Transport & Logistics. Wisco Transport & Logistics is a full service logistics company that focuses on managing the movement of freight from point A to B. What sets us apart? Well our secret ingredient is SERVICE. Our service starts from within, meaning we take care of our employees like family, we give them the support they need to be successful, we give them flexibility, most importantly we empower them! In turn our employees always go the extra mile for our customers! I am proud of each and every one of them. I am excited about our future. There are so many opportunities that we have to impact the industry and people around us. The world keeps moving and I get excited to know we have a part in helping it continue to move! I wish I could say it was easy getting here, but there were challenges (but that’s life). When challenges present themselves I take time access the situation- sometimes that looks like me calling a meeting with management to put a plan together, or me sitting alone in my office doing research, and even me sitting at home at night with my pen and paper writing all possible solutions to the issue. Perseverance is something my parents instilled in me as a child and boy am I glad because as business owner you will face many challenges but you have to always be prepared to push through no matter how difficult that it. Surrounding yourself with positive people has helped me overcome many challenges. I have learned that many times things do not go your way but I have always stayed grounded and true to myself and in the end things work out how they are SUPPOSED to work out. I want the world to know that I am here to make a change, a change for the better. I want them to know that Wisco Transport & logistics is a company that stands by its word and hard work. We are the future!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well this will be fun! I love a good time. Good thing I have friends that like to try things. But I would start by taking them to Marietta Square for a walk and food at the food hall- so many good options to choose from. We would go down to the Battery get drinks from Fat Tuesday’s while we laugh at our past! We would get lunch from Cru Food & Wine bar the atmosphere is nice and the food is delicious. Afterward we would end the night at Punch Bowl for same games bowling and fun karaoke! Then we would use our painting skills (or lack of HA) at Painting with a Twist- We’d enjoy Sip and Paint. I would have to take my bestie to one of my favorite places to dance and hear good music which would be Loca Luna! After all the on the go activities we would go on a walk for some exercise at Kennesaw Mountain and enjoy the scenery, the wonderful trails and nature. I think we would end the week with a nice dinner at Apt 4 B – enjoy the sophisticated atmosphere & enjoy the many wonderfully cooked dishes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The list is long. There have been many that have helped me get to where I am today. But I would like to recognize my husband, my 2 wonderful children and my family. They have been my backbone in this entire process. They have been there every step of the way encouraging me, pushing me, offering a listening ear, offering help when I needed and loving me in every way. I am grateful for them. I would not be here if it was not for them. I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to them!
