We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, how does your business help the community?
Kooth Supper Club not only brings the community together in the form of a community dinner, but also sources all of the ingredients from our menus from local farms. Together, we are supporting each other in a full circle that is continuous with every supper club we host!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am not a professionally trained chef. Each menu I curate comes from dishes that I love and want to put my own spin on. There have been instances where I fly based on instincts while cooking. While this technique doesn’t work well for most, I often call upon “The Holy Trinity” for guidance which is made up of my deceased Great Grandma, Grandmother, and Great Aunt. They were the real cooks of the family and my greatest source of creativity and inspiration.
What I hope others take from my experience is that if you see a need in your community, fill it. The biggest obstacle in your way is you. Kooth Supper Club was born out of a need for a unique dining experience based on locally grown food. I hope every small town has a Kooth.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love Kimball House for oysters and cocktails. They continuously impress me. Recently, I dined at The Consulate, a woman owned and chef driven concept surrounding global cuisine. Each month they have a guest spin a globe and randomly land on a country. Then they change their entire menu and cocktail list to represent that country. When I dined there the county was Iran. Easily some of the most flavorful food I have ever had the pleasure of trying!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We wouldn’t be where we are today without our farmers and support from our community members! Together, they make our wildest Kooth dreams come true! I am truly humbled after every dinner we execute. It’s the tireless farmers who work day and night to cultivate the land to produce the finest produce a chef could ask for. It’s the familiar faces I see when I come to the table in between courses. Without them, we wouldn’t have Kooth!
