We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cory, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Over the years I’ve worked in a few different industries. I’ve worked as a Chef, Accounting assistant, Foreclosure Auctioneer, Business Manager, now Realtor. All vastly different positions. The one habit that has allowed me to be successful is to simply be the expert. What does that mean? I study. Constantly seek out answers. If I have to read 100 books, seek a mentor, or take a class I will. Always be open to learning, be coachable until you reach the level where your no longer a novice you are the master.
What should our readers know about your business?
I can’t say I wanted to be a Realtor all my life. I can say that my interest and curiosity began in my college days. I worked at a Foreclosure firm in Chicago. I started as a copy and file assistant, My job was part time three days a week. After being there close to a year I was promoted to a legal assistant. One year after that I was an assistant out of county auctioneer. My role was to perform title searches, register funds, and produce sale documents. All very routine. It wasn’t until I really sat down and analyzed I was partially responsible for removing families regardless of their circumstances from their homes it weighed in on my conscious heavy and I decided to leave. Fast forward a few years later after holding several different job titles I decided to seek a career I would be able to help teach families about ownership, investments, and be the expert in my industry. Although I’m far from an expert I’m willing to do the work it takes to achieve success. I’m a problem solver with an undeniable drive,
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now this is an easy one! Atlanta has so much to do. We would start with breakfast at West Egg Cafe in Midtown. Drinks and lunch at 5church, Catch a workout session with my girl TK Fit at Eric’s Fit Lab. Now we have a week so plenty of time to visit Atlanta Botanical Garden, Take some dope pics at the Cultural Experience and Ponce City Market, After a long week we would get facials at Skynculture spa and dinner at Pasha!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this interview to my parents and my children. My parents have been my biggest fans. They have been supportive in every way imaginable. My children think I can do anything. They hold me to the highest standards. I could never and will never disappoint.
