We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Bear and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I think the best way to know when to give up is to tell yourself you’re going to quit.

At that point if you feel a part of you cringe with the thought of giving it all away you’re not done.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As far as my brand, what sets me apart is authentically trying to connect with people. Who I am online and offline are the same person, and people enjoy my energy in, and out the studio.

I rather have a solid community of supporters than to go “viral” or “blow up”.

As far as my sound, I think I just have a really good ear for music, and this easily translates into my art.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far in the music industry is to protect your hearing, get a performing rights organization like BMI or ASCAP, and don’t forget to have fun creating. We’re only on this planet for so long!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think the first stop would be a nature spot like the Japanese tea garden. It’s a very peaceful spot to clear your mind. After that we’d prob grab a bite to eat at a taco truck, and hit St. Mary’s strip to go bar/club hop. There’s a spot for everyone, and the Dj’s in San Antonio are very good.

The next days we’d prob hit up Six Flags , and the water park next to it..
Hit up the river the day after
Then chill and eat somewhere at the pearl near downtown.

Last stops would be hitting the gym with me, and pulling up to my studio to create something dope. The vibe here is peaceful and inspiring, a good environment for creatives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to shout out my fam Ofcourse, but 2 books that pushed me to where I am now are “The Alchemist” by Pablo Coelho & the Holy Bible KJV
