We had the good fortune of connecting with Cordae Omari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cordae, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I am a firm believer in living life to its fullest these days. After going through a separation and a pending divorce durning the pandemic, I knew it was time to start living life and aggressively chasing my dreams. For so long I “played it safe” to please everyone around me while all the time I was miserable. I was not living up to my full potential. One day I woke and I decided that it was time to take my acting and modeling seriously. I started networking more and more and traveling for more opportunities. I even took a risk to pack up my life and move from Birmingham, AL to Atlanta, GA for two months to film for two shows (Porn & Poppin on the WatchACTV app where I play the role of Julius Hardson and also The Realness Behind the Crown where I play Thunder) that I was casted for lead roles. I had never been away from home and my family for so long but it was definitely an eye opening experience that taught me that I can strive in any environment. Taking risk has landed me some incredible projects That I can’t wait for the world to see.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from anybody else is that I am 100% authentic and true to myself. My favorite saying is “I can have/ do everything I want. There is no limit to my life!” I live by this saying every single day. I am most proud of myself for not giving up on my dream or allowing anyone to discourage me from my dream. I’m excited to share the talents that God has blessed me with to the world. Getting to where I am now professionally took a lot of hard work and sleepless nights. I still have a ways to go but looking back on where I started from to where I am now only motivates me to continue to strive for the top. I have over 10 projects under my belt not including the music videos where I’ve been a model/ actor. I currently have two shows out one I mentioned earlier- PNPN written and created by Wesley Henderson and Devon Forbes and Welcome to Dundrill Heights written by Valton Johnson. PNPN is currently airing exclusively on the WatchACTV app and Welcome to Dundrill Heights will be out on HULU very soon. I’ve had to overcome getting in my own way and having self doubt. Those where two of my biggest challenges. I’ve learned to be patient, use every thing as a form of learning, not to focus so much on the words of the script but more so on the feeling, and I’ve learned to continuously network. When people see me no matter what it is that I’m doing I want them to see the God in me. I want them to see that I’m only a vessel trying my best to strive to be the best version of me possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well my friends know I love to have a cocktail or two so we would definitely hit up 10th and Piedmont or Blake’s for drinks, especially on “Sunday Funday”! We would go to my favorite restaurant OL Skool Flava! The food and the service there is always top tier. As far as fun goes, we would go to Six Flags and I would play tough until its time to get on a roller coaster! S/N: The last time I rode a ride at Six Flags I screamed like a little girl lol! Since I’m also into fitness we would have to get a good workout in at Effect Fitness. Last but not least, when its time to wind down we would go to Stone Mountain and hike to the top for a picnic.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My BIGGEST shoutout goes out to Tonita Ellison the creator of Love Lies: Webseries and Shy’viell Rudolph the owner of ShyFly Productions. These two black queens ignited a fire in me for acting that I thought had died many years ago. Tonita casted me for her show back in 2018. It had been well over 12 years since I had acted or done any projects at that time. Love Lies was the missing piece of my life at the time that I had been searching for but didn’t know how to find. I am a big believer that God will place the right people in your life at the right time and he/she definitely did that when Shy and I connected. I feel like it was fate. Shy has worked with me and provided me with so many amazing projects that has helped me to sharpen my skills. When I see these two ladies all I see is light, love, strength, beauty, and power. I am forever grateful for their constant encouragement and love.
