Meet Coolie Vuitton | Director & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Coolie Vuitton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coolie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started out as an artist/engineer which helped me understand how important visual content is for a business or profession. I always enjoyed the visual production side of things. I wanted to be able to give clients an industry look but for an affordable price. For example, I have created productions sets on a budget inside a garages, basements, or any area that I had to work with versus spending twice as much at an establishment.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting any business has it challenges. For me, the hardest part was gaining new clients when I first started. I did not have a portfolio or examples of my work. My experience being an engineer help me to gain artists as clients easier and was able to get that chance to show my worth. When I started stepping out of that niche, I would make visuals using my family members or even offering free services to small businesses so I can have that portfolio to attract new clientele. I have been working with one goal in mind: creating unique visual content that my clients will forever enjoy. I love expressing my creativity through lens and seeing the outcome.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite thing to do is shopping. So, we would defiantly hit up the malls and other stores. A few foods stop we would stop would be Spice House, BLU, Potato Boat, Chops, and really anything that has to do with seafood. Also depending on what they got going on for the week I would go to Stankonia Studios. They have events where you can hear the local talents and network with. The rest of the time would be with family. Any day with my family is always fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be the person I am today without the love and encouragement from my grandmother. She was truly one in a million. No matter how tough things started to get she always remained positive in a negative situation. She gave me a better outlook on life to where if you genuinely want something you can have it. All it takes is a little effort and you can achieve whatever you set your mind to. Do you know that old saying “the sky’s is the limit”? I learned from her that is true. There is no limit to what you can do in this world. Even though she is no longer with me physically, I still hear her voice mentally saying, “You got this.”
