We had the good fortune of connecting with CookieBoi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi CookieBoi, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve wanted to start recording music for a few years now. Wiz Khalifa & Taylor Gang were my main inspiration when it came to the decision to take music seriously. The day Mac Miller passed.” RIP Mac Miller” something just told me to start recording. I had a friend named Jamie Matthews and he gave me a computer with a software called Cubase and I started recording in my closet. The Homie Deezy Hendo sent me a feature and turned me up another level and made me realize I can write some fire bars when I sit down and focus ! I didn’t release my first song until this year Jan 1st and that is a feeling I will never forget. To answer the question I chose an creative career because it always been my dream literally. As a kid I would have dreams of being on stage or being in movies. Its crazy how all that has started to come true !
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m really big on being original and not sounding like anyone else as far as my wordplay and beat selection. I’m most excited about the Collab i have with Deezy Hendo dropping in March. Its called Super Stoned Bros. a play off of super Mario bros . it’ll have about 7 tracks on it just me and him super stoned in the studio ! Getting to where i am now was a journey I was writing on and off for 3 years developing my sound sometimes feeling like i would not make a good enough song to release but I didn’t lose sight of the vision I didn’t give up .A lesson that I’ve learned along the way is to prioritize and stay consistent no matter what . One thing that allowed me to have something to promote my music with was my cookie business that I’ve been building since 2019 after I met” Berner ” CEO of “Cookies”. I told him i wanted to get signed to Taylor Gang and he dapped me up and said keep that same energy. That engagement gave me the inspiration to make my own business which in turn pushed me to do music and acting
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Id take the homies to Main event for a few games of bowling and arcade games thats always fun man Theres so many spots i haven’t been to yet but for sure gripsz wings they got some honey lemon pepper wings that go crazy i heard this are great hiking spots out here as well so id hit up a trail and light a few maybe Stone Mountain . Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanna give a shout out to Damontai Richard he is a gospel artist from flint Michigan who just recently moved to Atlanta to pursue his dreams of becoming a successful gospel artist and a model . The day I heard is song “Teach Me” is when I knew he had an abundance of potential and a few weeks later we made an agreement for me to be his management team. His hard work and dedication to music definitely rubbed off on me and gave me the final push I needed to jump off my music career so thank you Damontai Richard !
