We had the good fortune of connecting with Codi Robinson Soto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Codi, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor was learning. Learning while you already know what you are doing. If you want to be successful but not learning from others, that’s going to be very difficult for you to take constructive criticism and look at things from a different perspective. The success of my brand, being a learner and teacher and taking constructive feedback and never giving up, helped me grow. I had to change my mindset. Even on the days where I wasn’t getting any sales or thinking no one was seeing my vision. Don’t give up!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My first baby (business wise) was Natural Haircare. Braids Milk And Honey, I started that May 23, 2018. During that time, I have learned so so much from my first business that I am still learning to date. I formulate natural haircare products for Black Women. My products are formulated, herb-ally, organically and chemical free, and formulated for each hair type. This first business was a challenge because I jumped right in and learned as I went. And learning as I went along, I ran into more mistakes.

My second business is Zen Healing Holistic’s. I am a Herbalist that works with Herbs, Remedies and Nutritional Information for Health Conscious Individuals who are committed to a healthy lifestyle. This business doesn’t cause me too many mistakes. I launched March 14th, 2022. I love leaning as I go along with this business because there are different avenues with holistic wellness that I can learn and apply it to my business.

I started both businesses based on health concerns and based on personal experiences I would love to share with everyone else and how the world is rapidly changing before our eyes. Remember that change is always good if you really want it in your life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The town where I live is a bit small but I would definitely make sure she has a great time. I would show here the best hotels in the area, she also has the option to stay in my house. We would hit the local restaurants for great desserts, go shopping of course because what girl doesn’t want to shop!
I would take her to the Wreck Room to let out any frustrations and issues. Get our nails done and watch our favorite shows with a ton of snacks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank God and The Universe I give all my concerns to and things that are out of my control. My next biggest thanks is to my Husband, he was there when I wanted to start my first business, he gave me the funds to start and stuck with me through every cry, every time supplies were needed.
Thank you to Ollie, Fay, Tee, Martiika, my sistas’ who always gave me encouragement, constructive feedback and just being a listening ear.
Thank you to the connections I was able to connect with and learn from.
Thank you all!
I love yall wholeheartedly.
