Meet Cindy Hogan | Actor, Coach, Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with CINDY HOGAN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi CINDY, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The A.C.T.I.N.G. Coach came from a real need I saw in the industry. After years of studying and teaching at different schools and workshops around Hollywood and Orange County, I noticed something: creativity and real growth were often treated like afterthoughts. That didn’t sit right with me. So, I decided to build something different – something better. That’s how The A.C.T.I.N.G. Coach was born: a space that’s both supportive and structured, where students can truly grow as artists. It’s affordable, safe, and built around helping actors develop their craft with purpose, integrity, and heart.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was debating whether to talk about myself as an artist and actor, or focus on my coaching business. But then it hit me – one really fuels the other. I’ve been in this industry for over 40 years, wearing a lot of hats: actor, director, producer. And for the last 20 of those years, I’ve also been coaching actors – sharing not just the craft, but also the business side of this work, all based on my own journey. That’s how The A.C.T.I.N.G. Coach came to life. I wanted to create a space where artists could grow – a place that’s both supportive and disciplined. Somewhere affordable, safe, and purpose-driven, where people can hone their craft with integrity. So how did I get here? Honestly, a lot of hard work and patience. There were moments when it felt easy – because I knew this was what I was meant to do. The tougher part was staying the course, finding balance, and learning to celebrate the small wins along the way. Those little wins matter—they keep you going, keep your confidence up.
If there’s one big lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: this industry feels like rejection, but it’s not personal. Most of the time, they don’t even know you. I always tell my actors, “They don’t know your favorite color!” So don’t take it to heart. In my coaching, I tell students: you’re occupational athletes. That means you’ve got to stay ready, so when opportunity shows up, you’re not scrambling to prepare—you’re already there.
As an actor, I get the chance to play all kinds of colorful human beings. And whether they’re good, bad, or somewhere in between, it’s a privilege to bring them to life truthfully. They deserve that kind of respect…to have their stories told with honesty.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooh, this is a fun one! I’d probably start in Stone Mountain—it’s such a beautiful area. Whether you’re hiking to the top or just walking around the base, it’s always a peaceful, scenic experience. And if we’re talking food, my go-to spot there is Cherokee Rose. I’m telling you, I’ve never had a bad meal there. The service is top-notch, too. Since I work in the industry, I always recommend checking out a tour at Trilith Studios or Eagle Rock Studios. They’re especially great for folks who are curious about the entertainment world but haven’t had much exposure to it yet…it’s a fun way to peek behind the curtain.
Another hidden gem I love is Saltville Grotto & Spa. I could easily spend an entire day there (and yes, I’ve definitely done that before!). For something a little more active, I’ve been known to hit up Sparkles skating rink…great for a little exercise and fun.
If I’ve got a first-time guest in town, the Georgia Aquarium is definitely on the list. And for the adults (especially after skating) I love heading out to Chateau Elan. The events there are always so well done, and the whole place is just gorgeous.
I’ve been in the Atlanta area for 10 years now, and honestly, I still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface. There’s always something new and exciting to discover!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, there are so many people to thank. First and foremost, my family! They’ve supported this journey from the very beginning, through all the many, many hours it’s taken (and still takes) to keep it going. The A.C.T.I.N.G. Coach has recently taken a new direction, and I have to give a huge amount of credit to Robert Gunton. I started coaching him when he was just 17 (now well into his 40s) he’s become a truly accomplished actor across multiple areas of his career. Watching that kind of growth has been incredible.
And of course, I’m deeply grateful for the love and support of the hundreds (honestly, probably thousands) of amazing actors I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years. They inspire me every day.
