Meet Cierra Wiles | Career Matcher and Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cierra Wiles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cierra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process begin as being a person who didn’t have much career guidance early on and hopping job to job trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I was my first client. Moving on I gained majority of my work experience as an Employment Coach and Higher Ed administrator and found that majority of my clients were doing the same thing. Jumping from job to job trying to find their passion and make money while doing it. So I took sight to a place where most people were blind. My main goal was to help people find their strengths and passion and link them to rewarding careers. I wanted people, especially students to have the benefit of moving into the workforce confident, skilled and knowledgeable about what they wanted to do. So I saw a niche for Career Matching and Consulting and started running my own business providing career exposure and matching services.

What should our readers know about your business?
Career Corp is compromised of professional consultants that provide career exploration, readiness, & development events to clients seeking to develop talent for the workforce. We assess the strengths and weaknesses of diverse groups to provide clear vision and direction that links directly to rewarding careers. We are in the development and career matching industry. Career Corp got to where we are today through networking and being consistent. While most businesses in their first year finish in the “Red” its not the case for us. We utilized the network we already had and hit the ground running. It wasn’t easy, Career Corp experiences a lot of “No’s”. However, we have learned to be consistent because the “Yes” typically brings more “Yes” because those people see the value.
We overcame challenges by staying true to who we were, getting help from local resources and people who were in the coaching and workforce industry. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is not as easy as it looks. There are days when I literally quit my business from being frustrated and feel I don’t see progress, but the next day….I hire myself back because I believe in what we do. I’ve learned that you have to go for the “Ask” . It doesn’t matter how big and small, just “Ask for the business”
I would like the world to know that we are true to our services. That we are on a journey to helping people “Become Who They Truly Are” in the workforce. I hear people say “It’s not about where you work or what you do” and I always counter that and say….”Yes, many times it is.” Our world judges us based on what we do….and if people were doing what they really loved they would share that freely. People who say it doesn’t matter are not in the right careers. Most people don’t like to share what they do because of shame and guilt because they know they are not living in their full potential. But this is why I started Career Corp. I love when people ask me “What do I do” It doesn’t lead to how much I make, because they see the passion and fire I have and I always hear back “That’s amazing! Its so inspiring”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s so hard because I’m not the planning type, I’m more go with the flow. I would say Mall of Georgia would be our first stop. Definitely Coca-Cola, African American Museum, and Georgia Aquarium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most definitely, there are so many people. My husband and son, Jonathan & Emerson Wiles who allows me the space to share my gift with the world. My family whose a huge support system to me! They help me daily and I’m fortunate to have a loving people in my corner. My mentor, Dr. Nika White, who has played an instrumental part in me jumping into entrepreneurship. I remember sitting in her office one day and telling her about my experience and her encouraging me saying “I truly believe you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur”. She introduced me to other female powerhouses such as Lawanna Dendy, and opened her network to me. So I’m forever grateful for her as a mentor! Dr. White has always invited to me the table.
