We had the good fortune of connecting with CHRISTINE CLEMENTS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi CHRISTINE, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
You won’t know until you try. As cliche as it may sound, you really do have to believe in yourself to succeed. When I first started my business, we were at crossroads. I was home with my 3 kids and was struggling to get ahead financially. I was either going to go out and find a job and drastically alter our lives, or pour my heart into my photography business and give it a real chance. I had struggled for years, I don’t struggle with taking photos or the art aspect of it, I had been doing that for years, but I couldn’t figure out how to get clients to find me. I ended up signing up for an online marketing SEO course and treated myself as a full-time marketer for my photography business for the first 3 months of deciding to take my business full-time. The grind was REAL but things changed drastically when I devoted myself to this business, no matter how cringy I felt filming videos of myself to advertise fall mini sessions or whatever else I was doing, It worked!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My photography has one aim, to celebrate the beauty and joy found in family life. As a mom myself, I know how quickly this time goes by, and we are often caught up in the stress of daily life. It’s important to stop and reflect and cherish each passing day with our quickly growing children. I am proud of my little studio, when we moved we looked for a home with a detached garage, and then we converted that detached garage into the ultimate natural light studio, it’s like a beautiful little cottage from the outside and it’s such a dreamy little space for my clients and a short walk across the driveway for me!
For me, it’s easy to create beautiful art because the people in front of my camera do it for me. Their families, their story, and their faces, are what make up all my beautiful images. My only goal is to use the natural light in the best way possible to highlight their natural beauty.
Along the way, I’ve met so many different people of all different backgrounds, religions, and races. I’ve found that we are all the same, we all want the best for our children and do the very best we can. It’s been so wonderful connecting and building relationships with so many amazing families.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really like the Avalon, my husband and I love to stop by Superica (best Mexican food in town!) and watch a movie or stroll around, the kids love the fountain and the playground!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husbands for always believing in me and supporting me, and my father-in-law for encouraging me to start an email list and giving me a business plan of action.
