We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Pack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
When I had my first child, it became immediately clear to me that I was unprepared for the postpartum season. I had no clue what to expect as far as my physical healing went, how to navigate my changing hormones, and how to ensure that my support system was truly set up to support me. I was overwhelmed, tired, and honestly at some points, scared. Postpartum is no freaking joke. When I had my second I took time during my pregnancy to prepare for the season ahead. I prepared my home for the newborn season so that things were easy to access. I prepared myself mentally and physically for what was to come. And I prepared my support system. I figured out what providers I’d need to see, asked my community for help with my toddler and with meals, and ultimately set myself up for success.
Having had two very different experiences, I was able to notice that the biggest differences were my preparation and my confidence. I was a confident mother and I was prepared. It made me think that new moms deserve to feel that same level of preparation and confidence that I had when I had my second child.
I set out on a path to create a business that served pregnant and postpartum women to help them navigate the transition through motherhood and it is hugely rewarding. I love working with this population and to play a small part in their success and confidence as a new parent is so life-giving. I love to hold space for new moms and help them make a plan so that they can enjoy the time with their newborn. Because, like people say, babies don’t keep
.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Resurgens Postpartum was created to support pregnant and postpartum women as they navigate the transition through motherhood. My mission is very focused on ensuring that women prepare for postpartum, are supported during postpartum, and are able to embrace their life and role as a mom. I help women with everything from finding balance, returning to work, setting boundaries, you name it. I also host classes for women to prepare for postpartum, plan for return to work, navigate pumping, and so much more. But my favorite thing about what I do is empowering and lifting up other women, it’s truly a dream job. Starting a business is never easy, but I’ve overcome challenges by keeping focused on my goals and taking it one day at a time. On the really hard days, I have the best friends in the world who encourage and push me to not give up. I also try to make sure I keep things in perspective when things get hard. I’m so thankful I get to do this work!
I’ve learned so many lessons along the way. First, things take more time than you might hope. I definitely expected a lot from my business in the first year, and while I’ve met a lot of benchmarks I set for myself, I fell short in a few areas too. And that’s ok. Now I’m realizing that sometimes building things slow and steady is the best way to make it happen!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, that’s a tough one. Well, first of all I’d have to remind my friend that I’m a mom so I don’t frequent as many of the cool new spots as I used to, haha! But, I’d definitely have to hit up Monday Night Brewing, where I used to pour beer back when they were just getting started on the westside. I’d also take them to some of my favorite hole-in-the-wall spots like Hankook (for tacos) on Collier and Malaya (for the best take-out Chinese and Thai food) on Collier. Those are two of my favorite spots.
I’d also take them to the eastside beltline. I used to run there 4 days a week and it was such a fun place to spend so much time. I don’t make it over there as often with my little ones but it is one of the coolest parts of the city in my book. And I wouldn’t be a good host if I didn’t take them to grab a latte at Bellwood Coffee and for a quick sweat sesh at Venture Crossfit–two of my favorite spots to spend time on the westside!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, my shoutout could go to so many, but the biggest supporter and cheerleader I have is my husband. He has been so encouraging, and sometimes very pushy, haha! He believes in me and my business 100% and it is so wonderful to have that kind of support. I definitely wouldn’t have taken the leap without his encouragement and support. He’s made time for me to make this dream a reality and sits down with me regularly to help me navigate the next steps. He is truly my rock.
