We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Columbia, SC. however, I moved to South Korea when I was 2 years old. I lived there for about 11 years with my two older sisters and my parents who were missionaries and taught at an International Christian School. I am so thankful to have been raised in a loving home and diverse culture. My upbringing has had a major impact on who I am today. I am able to explore various career fields and interests while having the support of my family.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently my primary profession is in executive protection, where I work with a team of individuals to provide safety, security and service for high profile clients. I started in this career field in 2018. Prior to that, I served as an officer in the United States Air Force for 6 years. I have always been drawn to wanting to protect people and make sure that they feel safe and at peace. It was definitely not easy getting to this point in my career. There were a lot of physical, mental, and spiritual challenges that I faced. However, having the support of my family and submitting to God’s plans for my life was the only way I could have overcame them. While I was in the Air Force, I began to explore my creativity. I began drawing, painting, and taught myself to knit. Fast forward to 2020, I launched my art business. I create abstract art to inspire peace, fused with tranquility, harmony, security, and joy. I was nervous to start the business, for many reasons. It was something new, I never envisioned myself as a ‘business woman’, I didn’t know if people would like my work or if it would be successful. However, after a lot prayer and encouragement and advice from friends who had also started their own business; I decided to take a leap of faith and launch the business! I was surprised when I began to get requests for commissioned pieces, and selling ones that I had already made. It has been incredible and humbling to see how God uses my paintings bless others and bring them a sense of peace and joy. I could never have imagined that I would be where I am today, and it wouldn’t have been possible without God. I know that my story is still unfolding and I’m excited to see where God leads me!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is a great place with a lot of fun things to do. I haven’t lived in Atlanta for a few years and recently moved back here a few months ago, but since I went to GSU, I would take my friend downtown to explore the area. We would visit the sundial restaurant, CNN center, Piedmont park, and maybe walk or bike the belt line. I would also take my friend to Lennox mall and show them the incredible architecture around the city. Since I grew up in Korea, I would definitely take them to Jeju Sauna Spa, that offers great Korean food and relaxation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents and sisters. I would not be where I am today without there encouragement, prayers and support!
