We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest, becoming an entrepreneur was not something I aspired to do. It was given to me at a time when I was seeking for more in my life. I am a flight attendant and I absolutely love what I do. However February 16, 2018, I was awakened at 3 am with the acronym C U T E and what each letter meant. It wasn’t until September 14, 2020, during the Coronavirus pandemic, that C.U.T.E. Ink was formed, and in March 2021, we opened for business. I started this business not knowing exactly who my target audience was because the acronym stands for Committed Until The End. At the time, I thought it was for married couples, however, God began to run down a list of all the things you can be committed to. For example, to God, your partner, career goals, educational goals, health journey, purpose, passion, dreams, and visions. The list goes on and on.
What should our readers know about your business?
C.U.T.E. Ink is a lifestyle brand company that is committed to telling stories of those who are living a committed lifestyle. Our apparel is designed to IMER- Inspire, Motivate, Encourage and Remind you that whatever you’re committed to be Committed Until The End. We are ever evolving as a business. We are excited about what’s on the horizon. Just to name a few, C.U.T.E. Conversations which will be a podcast where we talk with, and interview people who are C.U.T.E. This will be a range of people as everyone has a story. Within the next 2-3 years, we will move forward with incorporating our non-profit, C.U.T.E. Ink Cares. With this initiative, we will partner with businesses that are committed to financial literacy and helping the underserved communities, to give them hope and a future. I worked for TransUnion for 14 years in multiple roles, and I want to share my knowledge with others and utilize partnerships with companies that are doing the same or more. Our newest motto is “When CUTE is more than just a word, it’s a lifestyle.”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a family member or friend was coming into town for a week-long trip, I highly recommend the following places which are my personal favorites. Brunch spots: Breakfast at Barney’s, Gocha’s, Atlanta Breakfast Club, The Real Milk & Honey, and The Southern Gentleman. For dinner and drinks Rock Steady, Roc South Cuisine, Fin & Feathers, Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours, and the Beverly. A tour of the city with the first stop being the King Center for a little history and photoshoot. Make a quick stop at the Trap House Museum for pictures, and possibly go ride the mechanical bull at the Ubar. It is a must that you take them for retail therapy either at Lenox Mall (most out-of-towners want to go there in hopes of seeing a celebrity) or Phipps Plaza. Lastly, take them to the beltline for additional photo opportunities and a long walk.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I’d like to give honor & credit to God for giving me the idea and vision. Without his help and guidance, I wouldn’t be in business today. Secondly my family!! I am so blessed and fortunate to have my husband, mother, son, sisters, cousins, and friends who have been super supportive and encouraging. My family members were my first customers. They believed in me and the vision God gave me. For that, I am grateful. I want to recognize several women entrepreneurs who I have watched over the years and received coaching from. Crystal Perkins, Charmian Stephens, and Dr. LaTanya Moore. These ladies have impacted my life in so many ways. Each one of them brought something different to the table that has helped me grow as a person and as a businesswoman. Lastly, I want to recognize and give credit to SCORE of North Metro Atlanta. The assistance and training they offer and provide to entrepreneurs are unlimited. I highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking about starting a business.
