We had the good fortune of connecting with Christie G. Clermont and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christie G., let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by many things. I am most inspired by my surroundings, people and music. I love being able to be exposed to different cultures and art. To me, that is what keeps my mind going. I am always going down a rabbit hole when it comes to taking in new information. I thrive off of it. Colors also inspire me. I try to challenge myself to use color more, in different ways and also focus on certain colors at a time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always say that my art is my therapy, despite if I sell or not, I will always create some way or another. I am proud of my evolution and also my customer base. I have some amazing supporters and clientele that I wouldn’t trade for the world. My journey hasn’t been easy and some days aren’t easy. I am currently living in Haiti with my family, so many things aren’t as available to me as they would be in the states. I can keep going on about my challenges, but I have learned to be able to adapt and confront each situation head on with honesty. I pride myself in communication and customer service and that carries me through any adversity I may face. My brand, Chez Christie, is very important to me. I consider it to be one of my babies! It isn’t easy but the work I put into her keeps me sane and helps me air out all of my creative frustrations. I want my brand to be viewed as very personal, warm and grass-roots. A reflection of black excellence and expression. I am also the co founder of Bloom Ayiti and Leadership Academy Haiti.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Atlanta and I love to eat! We would go to Busy Bee’s off of MLK or get some good BBQ from Fatt Matt’s since Hodges isn’t open anymore (I don’t think it is). During the day I would go stroll in Lil 5 and just people watch. Get drinks at the Garden Room and find somewhere to listen to live music at. Since Covid I haven’t been home to Atlanta in a while, but Ive been seeing some new eateries that Id like to try pop up! I can’t wait. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my husband, Olivier. He is always supporting me and pushing me to be better. I truly appreciate our journey together and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Olivier has taught me so much about myself and has challenged me to be the woman I am today. He is my biggest supporter! I love you so much Oli!!!!
