We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Swiech and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up for the idea of my podcast, while in between careers. I was very early in recovery from drug addiction, and I thought why not start talking about mental health and other stigmas related to these types of things. I thought it would be great to have others on my show to interview them, to share their stories. I believe everyone’s story is valuable at the end of the day, doesn’t matter what walk of life you come from!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There were many challenges at the beginning with starting my podcast, as I had no clue as to what I was doing. I was able to actually put together a little crowd funding for all the equipment to get me started. Some of the challenges had to do with equipment set up, doing the sound, putting together social media posts, getting guests for the show. I’ve learned so many great valuable lessons along the way, one of the most important ones is to not rush your work and to take your time to learn different ways to do things. I would love everyone to know that it’s important to be vulnerable and share your story as you never know who you’d be helping. Being vulnerable also gives you confidence and authority with your story!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to take a friend to explore all the different things to do in Toronto, Ontario as there is so much to do. And there are way too many restaurants to think of! I would also take them to a Jays, Leaf’s, or Raptors game if they were in town that week as well!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout first and foremost to my amazing fiancée Megan, she’s stuck by my side through thick and thin, and has never given up on me. She’s pushed me to be the best version of myself that I am today. I also want to give you huge thank you to each and everyone of my supporters who’ve been around since the beginning of the show, and even the ones who’ve just started listening.
