We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Ivy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve my business has taught me Is staying true to your growth. in this day and age we constantly compare ourselves to other successes while downplaying our own , when we do this we unintentionally deem ourselves as failures so over time I stopped looking at everyone else’s growth and just focused on getting better everyday.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When people look at my art I ultimately want them to see my perspective when taking a picture and that’s heavy in the editing process. In photography there are so many rules on composition that you often lose yourself in the eyes of photo professionalism but when you think about true art it’s the expression of ones creative skill and in order to be creative you have to break some boundaries right? I started photography in 2017 with a canon t3i(a conventional starter camera), I shot with this camera a year before I decided to upgrade. While i’d love to say I wanted to humble myself with this camera, it was more so for budgeting reasons, shooting with this camera began my self leaning path to the fundamentals of digital photography. I’m often asked is this path easy? Absolutely not! Being an artist is difficult at times because you’re your worst critic and on top of that you have to find a structured way to make a profit at what you love or else you’re introduced to the complexity of a day job and managing work/creative life balance. I often struggle when it comes to dedicating time to my art but the whole goal is to turn this into my full time profession and show the world a perspective behind my lens.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
if a friend from out of town were to visit i would take them on an adventure to one of the hiking trails in Georgia. the rules for this trip would be no technology besides cameras and the goal would to be appreciate the simplicities of life and laughter.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To all that deserve credit in my journey thus far:

my father (Rodney Martin) who taught me work ethic and that I can do anything I apply myself too.

my mother (Lisa Ivy) who always taught me how to keep my head in my lowest times and that life waits for nobody.

my best friend (Deshon Franklin) who inspired me to take my business goals serious due to him starting his own mobile detailing company (Franklins mobile detailing)

and lastly my brother (Branden Ivy) who’s always reminded me to stay true to myself.

all these people along with prayer has shaped the foundation of who Chris is.
