We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Bostic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I made the choice to pursue a artistic and and creative career because it always been who I am to be honest. I always feel myself come alive whenever I get the chance to be creative or artistic. It’s during those moments that I feel I’m my best me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a singer songwriter producer. One of the things that I feel sets me apart from others would be my approach to song design, song structure and crafting music that speaks to heart of the listener. I where i am today because I did my best to stay consistent and focused, It was not easy by any means but, by Gods grace I was able to do it. I’m excited about all that’s in the works but I’m most excited about the journey.
Has it been a smooth road, nope not at all. There has been plenty of challenges. One of the major ones for me during that time was not having my own gear. I used to go to the music store every day to play keyboards that I wanted because I couldn’t afford one. My Dad purchased my first instrument – A Korg M1. It was Brand New but it got stolen. I would go in Sam Ash music and Reliable music in Charlotte and practice then go to whatever church I had to sing or play at. Fast forward, my Wife Karmel for my 30th Birthday got me one of the keyboards I always wanted – A Roland Fantom x6. That was 16 years ago. I still have it and will never let it go. However I am happy to say now I’m blessed to own more gear than I could ever imagine. One of the things I’d like the world to know about me as a musician and producer would be I believe if you let God present you in anything you do…you’ll never go wrong.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely have to hit up, Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, and or Fox Brothers BBQ,
Maybe head out to Truist Park and check out a Braves game.
Some of things my family enjoy are The world of Coca Cola and the Georgia Aquarium. The are the places we have the most fun lol. We’re kinda simple!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people who I’d like to recognize are first and foremost, God. Everything I have and all that I have been blessed to do, is because He made it possible. in my life, It’s quite simple, When it comes to God, without him, I’m nothing.
Secondly, My family: My Wife, Karmel and My Son, Jalen. My Wife has always been very supportive of my vision and all that I do. There have been moments where I would be in a low place and then she would speak encouraging words over me and let me know she was praying for me. That type of support is huge in marriage especially when ministry is involved. I’m grateful for her!
My Son, Jalen as well has a way of encouraging me and letting me know how he feels about the music God gives me ad well. It’s great to be appreciated by people and others, but when your children can say that they were blessed by a lyric you wrote or sang, it speaks volumes on all sides. Its truly a blessing!
Lastly, My Parents, Pastors Robert and Elisa Bostic and even my Mother in Law, Edna Fewell. Whenever I go home back to Charlotte, North Carolina, as soon as I walk in my Mother in Laws house, her and my Sister-In-Law Bonnie, start playing my Music. My mother in law is 82 years old and knows all the lyrics and can sing the actual songs. My parents have always encourage me to keep going and to never stop. The raised me to do everything with my whole heart, all or nothing, keeping God first always. All of that to say, God and my family are great! they truly share this Shoutout moment!
