We had the good fortune of connecting with Cheyenne Merced and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cheyenne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process, good question! I wasn’t fully content with where I was working and what I was doing. I knew I had this ability to work with my hands, but I felt my talent was wasting away by working in an area where I wasn’t perfecting my craft. I felt this urge within me to start my own business, yet, I was scared and was not ready to take that leap of faith. After, going back and forth in mind for months, I finally made my business official in 2019,
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Colored My Hands Gold restores Vintage and Antique furniture, but I recently partnered with family members who are Artists and Craftsmen in leather goods & Handmade goods to expand the borders of my business. Also, I provide my services to individuals who would like to have their furniture refurbished. Colored My Hands Gold is focused on quality versus quantity. I recently launched my website which you can view at www.myhandsgold.com, check it out. My website has provided me the platform to showcase other creations and talents.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the garden has so much to see. They have sitting areas throughout where you can just sit back and enjoy nature. The garden also has a beautiful restaurant with options to dine inside or outside.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was going through a very rough time in my life and I had so many different thoughts in my mind- I felt I had no direction. I was dealing with an injury I sustained on the job which led to the employer releasing me of my duties as a Police Officer. I was dealing with discouragement because my business was not where I felt it needed to be and so forth. I remember praying and asking God to send me my destiny helpers. After a few months, a family friend who was studying to be a Life Coach took me as a client. With her help! I was able to put my thoughts into perspective and plan my next steps for my business.
