We had the good fortune of connecting with Cher’Ron LaFleur and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cher’Ron, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was to be myself. It was very difficult accepting myself for who I was as an individual, a mother, business woman, and a friend. I had to learn that my success was predicated on how authentic I was to my customer base and it had to transcend through my brand. People say they like real people but they really don’t. They like the idea of real people and I learned that being on social media platforms I had to stand out by being myself and people really appreciate that. What you see is what you get with me and I definitely take you on a journey. I am transparent and authentic and people appreciate that more and so when they see me winning yes there may be a little envy but I have more rooting for me than hating on me because they can relate to who I am as an individual, a mother, business woman and a friend.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Master Cosmetologist who pride myself on giving the very best of myself to my client. My career is definitley Healthy Hair but also in the process of maintaining the health of my client’s hair I also maintain the emotional well being of my client. For some reason once a client gets in my chair we remain connected forever. I touch my client’s lives by being loving, nurturing and understanding to their needs. We both go on a journey with each other and I attract the clients that need me to nurture and love on them while I’m taking care of their hair. That is what sets me apart from other Cosmetologists; not only do I nurture their hair but their spirit. I do so by allowing them to be themselves because I am being myself. I’m not just a hairstylist doing hair to make money but I am a Master Cosmetologist servicing clients on their Healthy Hair Journey and their soul’s purpose in life. I want you not to look good leaving my chair but to feel good also leaving my chair. There are so many people that sit in my chair that are going through tough time and if I can be their peace, their fun or joy for a few hours that’s my reasonable service.

No, it is not easy because the more you love on people the more people are attracted to you and that includes your peer’s clients. They want to be attached to me and receive goodness and the joy I bring when I am servicing my clients. That’s a big NO NO in my industry and has created a lot of division but the way I get through this is that I allow the Universe to work for me and I continue doing what I’m supposed to be doing and it definitely works itself out. I don’t feed into the negativity and I allow my light to shine when other’lights are dimming.

Know that when you sit in my chair not only will you be Beautiful on the outside but you will definitely feel beautiful on the inside. I’m authentic and I do not judge people’s journey but I embrace it and encourage them to move forward in life no matter what obstacles they face. That’s what I do; I continue on no matter how far fetched or impossible it may seem I continue to build my business and move in my destiny. In doing so, I’ve learned that nothing is as impossible as we have imagined because once we think a thought it becomes reality once we nurture it. I adopted a motto Thoughts become Things because whatever we think we shall have.

There are several milestones in my life I am proud of for instance changing over into Cosmetology from Finance, So many people doubted me including my friends and family but I was determined to transition and it was definitely rough for me to do so. I’m really excited to be teaching my craft in the local Cosmetology school. I never thought in a million years I would be a Cosmetology Instructor but I’m in the process of obtaining my license for that as well so that is a hugh accomplishment for me.

However, what I most proud of is showing people that you can have whatever you want to have and be whoever you want to be no matter how big the vision is; it can be yours. I never thought in a million years I would be inspiring people to step out on Faith and do what they’ve always desired to do. Man, that’s mind blowing and overwhelming and surreal all in one. I never would have thought I would be impacting lives but that’s my purpose and I’m up for it even when I’m not up for it.

Right now as I’m doing this interview I’m not up for it but I’m doing it anyway because feelings come and go and if I don’t do my best people see it but they don’t judge. What they say is if she’s human and if she can get beyond that then I can to. That’s what inspiration is all about getting people to believe in themselves so that they can continue on in their purpose. This is my story and my brand and I’m sticking to it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have to be honest my best friend, if I had one , would be on her own LOL. I am in a new city myself and in the process of exploring it. Right now my absolute favorite spot in the city for me is Fins and Feathers in Riverdale. I absolutley love the ambiance, the food is delicious and I would definitely take them there first. Then I would take them out to Monticellos in Smyrna because they have great food, music and people. The other place I would take them is Breakfast at Barney’s. I love their whole setup and the food is divine. Beyond that we are googling & tik toking great places to go with good food in the ATL LOL We are going to learn together what’s good here LOL

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There a several books that got me to the place I am today with my business such as The 4 Agreements, The Universe has my Back, Think and Grow Rich but what truly propels me to keep going are the naysayers. I have to give a big shout out to them because without them I would not be where I am today. It’s like my super power because I’m always out to show people that anything is possible if you put your mind to it so they keep me on my toes so that I don’t get complacent. They are my biggest cheerleaders and they don’t even know it and I want to thank each and everyone of them for keeping focused and on track.
