Meet Chef G Germain | Chef G of Creole Sol

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef G Germain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chef G, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always had a passion for cooking; however, I didn’t begin to nurture it until I relocated to Georgia. My wife and I was driving around looking for something to eat and couldn’t find anything to my liking, she suggested that I should just start cooking being that I always cook at home. I wasn’t too sure if people would buy my cooking, but once we started selling it just took off.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My slogan is ” Come Get Fed” that originated from all my customers coming out wherever I’m at to eat. Whenever people eat my food, they become family. When I’m serving food my customers get the full experience of me, my wife and I are very personable. I’m talking, asking about the kids, work and I’m genuinely interested in how they are doing. I would have to say what sets me apart from other businesses like mine is that you ever know what you will get when you come to get food. One day it may be a full Haitian dinner the next I may go Asian or Irish. I’m constantly trying to challenge myself in this field by not being afraid to test all flavors and take inspiration from different cultures to incorporate it into a Creole Sol dish. Along the way I have learned to accept feedback and hold myself accountable. Feeding people is a humbling experience and I love when people come back to me and say how good their party or wedding was because of the food. Food is universal and brings people together, nothing makes me prouder than when my regular customers bring a friend to try out my food. In this business being respectful and honest goes a long way, we have got more business through word of mouth and former customers sharing their experience with other people, I will never take my customers for granted. Creole Sol is looking to expand and be able to feed even more people in the coming future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting with their family, our first stop would have to be the Georgia Beer Company on S. Briggs Street. The owners are two couples Chris & Michelle and, J Ryce and Amanda they have undeniably the best beer in town. and are all around amazing people. The brewery is a family place where you can bring your kids for the day and even your pet. For the kids we would have them spend the day at Wild Adventures amusement park and then we would probably head back to my place, so I could personally treat them to a homecooked meal.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom and our Haitian culture play a huge role in the flavors I use and my style of cooking. Growing up my mom always had a pot of something cooking on the stove and I always found my way in the kitchen. My mother’s potato salad is what ignited my interest in the kitchen, I would go in the kitchen and help her mix it and it took off from there. I saw how my mother’s food brought all of our family together, that laid the foundation for how I feed my family. Fast forward to meeting my wife who is a certified foodie, she sends me all the meals she wants, and I go in the kitchen and make it happen. I would have to say she is one of my biggest supporters and the person who pushed me to pursue this as a full-time career.
