We had the good fortune of connecting with Chavon Anette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chavon, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
My name is Chavon Anette. I am the Fire Leadership Coach. I help kingdom people break fear, build faith, and lead confidently. My desire is to help people not just survive but thrive in life, leadership, and business. I am the host of the Power & Grace Leaders Podcast and Talk Show. I am also a certified leadership life coach with a university filled with courses to help individual to leap and lead in their area of influence- Powerhouse Leaders University. Also, I am a transformational speaker, and a multiple best-selling author. This all matured from starting a blog in 2016 and allowing God to direct my path.
Anything worth having never simply drops in your lap. You must be willing to be in the work necessary to reap the harvest of your labor. Success of any type will require commitment, consistency, and courage, which are necessary elements that require sacrificing the fear, shame, and pride to embrace the power of courage, coldness, and humility that will help one experience success in their lives. Since success is not something that is final, it is important to employ habits that will help one to see different levels of success consistently. The beautiful element about being a coach is helping people constantly set goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timebound, which makes room for small successes that pave the way for larger ones.
There are three key habits that have helped me see success as an emerging leader, content creator, and leadership coach: Affirmations, investing in myself, and consistency.
First, affirmations are a habit that I am sure to encourage individuals to utilize because they saved my life. In 2019, I dealt with compounding issues in my life. For years I wore a mask covering up the fact that I was molested as a child, battled with infertility, and experienced marital challenges. Affirmations saved me because I took the time to speak life into myself despite all the hopelessness I felt. I became intentional about renewing my mind to align with what my life had the potential to become rather than its current condition. I started living, and I started telling my story with hopes that others would be empowered, which they were.
Second, investing in myself was another habit that I started that helped me see success. I came to understand that I cannot make myself know or understand what I did not expose myself to by an expert or someone with the experience I was lacking. I began investing in myself so I could gain the language for my purpose. I no longer wanted to figure everything out on my own. I decided that I was serious enough about my future to trust someone else to come along side me on my journey. It was liberating and empowering for me to move beyond my comfort zone to experience greater levels of success.
Finally, consistency was the habit that I focused on maintaining. Consistency was something that people always pointed out that they admired about me, but I wanted so much for them to notice so many other things that I took the compliment for granted. Later, I came to understand that people were pointing out what they saw in me that they desired in their own lives. Consistency is important because it allows you to be present and see progress and success overtime. As I learned new things, I employed new methods and was determined to be consistent in these new exploits. It required a greater level of sacrifice and organization, but it has been worth it.
Overall, success is what people desire, but everyone must be willing to engage in the necessary habits that will make it happen. I love John Maxwell. He has a book called Make Today Count, and he has a statement that reads, “Commitment is what you must put in today in order to make today your masterpiece and make tomorrow a success.”
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the Fire Leadership Coach. I am a certified leadership and life coach. I provide one-on-one coaching and group coaching. I also started Powerhouse Leaders University. This is a place where individuals can sign up for self-paced courses for them to take based on their needs to help individuals gain the language they need, break fear, build faith, and lead confidently. Also, I am transformational speaker. I speak to motivate, empower, and educate people in ministry and in marketplace.
The journey has not been easy. There were a lot of things that I had to overcome to gain the confidence and boldness to step out and launch a business and brand that would help leaders and emerging leaders. The story behind any successful leader is not peaches and cream. You have to have a fighters heart in order to grow and develop against the odds.
Lessons that I have learned along the way: don’t be afraid to partner with others, don’t be afraid to build a team that can help you grow the vision, don’t be afraid to believe in the impossible, don’t be afraid to go first, don’t be afraid to pivot to see greater success.
What I would want the world to know about my brand and story is that I am here and yet evolving because of God. I would have given up completely in 2019 from the pain of having to face and deal with things that were happening in the present and the stress from my past without God. We all have a purpose, and my responsibility as a life coach is to partner with my client and God to help people reach their greatest level of potential. I am a young African American woman who grew up in poverty, worked hard to get to and through college, and I took the most radical leap to become a fulltime business owner because I knew it was the assignment that God had for my life.
My favorite quote is by Myles Munroe: “The fact that you are alive today is an indication that you have something the world needs.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestfriend came to visit me in Virginia Beach, VA, the itinerary would be so much fun. First, we would have to go to the beach. Then, we would also have to go visit MacArthur mall in Norfolk, VA. Also, we would absolutely have to go to downtown Virginia Beach to go to Ruth Chris for dinner and walk and enjoy the different shops and restaurants. Then, we could also go to the Melting pot restaurant to enjoy some great food. In addition, If they enjoy theme parks, a tripe to Busch Gardens and/or Kings Dominion would be an amazing experience too. Finally. going to visit the outlets in Williamsburg, or seeing a concert that could be happening at Norfolk Scope or the Hampton Coliseum would be amazing to check out also. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
