We had the good fortune of connecting with Chasittie Tanner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chasittie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
This has actually been a dream that’s coming true. My husband and I have always enjoyed cooking and baking together. So to receive so much love and support from Atlanta has been amazing. We started our business on January 30, 2020 and we have been grinding hard and networking all year to reach our goals. We deliver every Saturday around the metro Atlanta areas and we specialize in our homemade cheesecake stuffed in a juicy strawberry. We also have wicked candied grapes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and so much more. We’re looking forward to moving back home opening up our shop here in Atlanta, Ga. Our customers in Georgia are the best always supporting and encouraging us to follow our dreams. We’ve been meeting so many wonderful people along our journey and I’m so thankful for every opportunity that’s put before my husband and I.

What should our readers know about your business?
Sweets N Things is set apart from others because the love in our treats are addictive. Our cheesecake is very light and fluffy with a special ingredient. When customers buy our treats they instantly call back for more. They always remind us they can see and taste the love n time we put into our treats. We originally started out just doing stuffed cheesecake strawberries and cheesecake jars. Bt as time past we built our menu with more delicious fruits and treats. I named the grapes after my husband “Wicked Grapes” taught him the recipe and that’s one of our customers favorite choices. Cupcakes are named “MadiCakes” after my niece Madisyn. She started me on cupcakes for her birthday and it’s been a big hit all summer. Cookies and brownies we’re inspired by our son Darnell “Dee” Douglas customers say they stay moist for days and is also a top seller on the menu. We named our customers Strawberry Headz and they definitely live up to there name. This journey has not been easy we started late January and shortly after that Corona virus hit so we had to cancel some events and our first popup shop scheduled for April was canceled. So we didn’t know how Sweets N Things was going to make. By the grace of God when May hit our business started booming during a panademic. We hit our goals all summer and some. We’ve started meeting new faces and the support has been amazing. I’m so proud to see our business progress each month. Along the way I’ve learned to trust God in everything that you do and stay consistent. Be your brand everyday and pray daily. This journey has brought so much joy in my life. So glad I took that leap. It always seems impossible but do it anyway. Let God lead you and trust his timing. I would love for the world to know that my business means the world to me. I really enjoy engaging with my customers and making them smile. It’s a pleasure to give them the best treats. All of my treats are baked fresh to order and I love making sure it’s the absolute best quality. There’s always a good experience at Sweets N Things so supporting me is supporting a dream and you all are appreciated.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love hanging out in the Downtown and Perimeter area. Good food spot for my girls and I would be Maggionos. Hit up a lounge for some good music and drinks. Hit the city at night and party. Saturday night we would attend the parking lot concert or any concerts at the Tabernacle

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout my wonderful husband Daricus Tanner. He has been with me every step of the way. He works hard 8hr shifts plus overtime and still come help me prepare and get all my orders out. We have restless nights but he still continue to push on with me. My biggest supporter and he deserves the world. When I brought my idea to him he invested in me and network on my behalf to build customers at his job in Lincoln, AL and other cities around Alabama. My husband has been such a great help because we work so well together. As small business owners things don’t always go as planned. But when you have a great team player working with you can’t beat it. Thanks husband you are appreciated and I love so much.
