We had the good fortune of connecting with Charntae Freeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charntae, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I enjoy taking risks, risk taking is what got me where i am today . I have a hard time making life changing decisions which leads me to self doubt . 10 times out of 9 you probably wouldn’t have even heard the name tae ivory with out me taking the risks that i have .
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a creative. Mentally Creating is my therapy, not only to myself but to others aswell. What I’m proud of the most is my ability to understand the music i choose to choreograph to from my pov. After training consistently for a whole two years i took time to myself to get my mental health together . Was it easy? Far from it . Doing what you’re meant to do is never easy, it takes a lot of effort, patience, dedication, discipline & sacrifice. How i overcame the stress & hurt behind it was reminding myself that dance was the only career field that brought me the joy and excitement that I’ve been longing for since i was a youngin . Lessons I’ve learned along the way was not everyone & everything isn’t meant for you , just because you’re not a signed dancer doesn’t mean you aren’t a beast at what you do . Or just because you don’t get 2,000 views & likes in a hour doesn’t mean that your choreography is bad , you just have to believe in what you create & trust the process behind it . My brand is about REAL growth . Not only just growth in dance , but growth in the mind, body & soul. If you truly believe yourself , you can become unstoppable.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Surprisingly both my bestfriend’s & I are extremely spontaneous, we are definitely the “where ever the universe takes us “ friend group , no plan , no specific location, just a group FaceTime call saying what time to be ready & outside we go !
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a major shoutout to Antonio Mincy , where it all started . Tony had a major role in my success, he pulled me out my shell , taught me how to embrace the gift that i was given & put me in rooms with a lot of talented people . I would also like to extend this shout out to “the push” mentorship program lead by Gary Buford. Gary always pushed me past my limits to achieve greatness. I’m more than appreciative for all the knowledge of the industry that was poured into me.
