We had the good fortune of connecting with Charletha Askew and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charletha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business to help women minimize clutter in various areas of their lives (mainly focusing on living spaces and schedules). I wanted to help my clients build lasting habits, so they could spend more time with their families, career, and community without being overwhelmed by all the day-to-day challenges.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a Professional Organizer with over 15 years of experience, I saw a need to help women develop the skills and the clarity needed for a balanced daily life. I wanted to create a partnership to help discover what’s best for a client’s household and learning style. That’s when I decided to incorporate my life coaching skills and offer a more profound level of client experience.
My services now include an integrated approach where my clients and I work on decluttering and organizing (to address organizing their living spaces) and building routines and habits in areas such as meal prep, laundry and home management (to address organizing their schedules).
I can honestly say I was nervous about pivoting from in-person Done For You organizing services to 1:1 Coaching, but it has been a great collaboration. Working together to discover what may be intimidating to my clients or hampering to their organizing or productivity starts the process of them aligning with the way they truly want to live.
I get excited about witnessing client’s shift in perspective (their A-HA moment). These shifts forever change their thinking around disorganization, cluttered living spaces, and overfilled schedules, resulting in more time, money, energy, and freedom.
The feedback from clients has been positive. It’s like a community where I emphasize the importance of having a non-judgmental, friendly environment.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I love to eat so they should bring lots of pants with elastic waistbands.
We would eat barbecue at Fox Brothers (The Works – Chattahoochee Ave), and have tacos at Little Rey (Piedmont Ave.).
My friend Candace has a wine bar on Main Street in Stone Mountain, GA (The Vibrary) so we would also go there.
I’m a sports fan, so depending on the season, attend a Falcons, Hawks, Braves, or Atlanta United home game
Besides that, we would hang out with other friends, prepare home-cooked meals, and have a great time laughing and talking.
