We had the good fortune of connecting with Chapelle Nichole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chapelle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that risktaking is very essential in the journey of finding your way to your purpose. Without risk there’s no reward. It’s very easy to become stagnant in life, especially when you’ve become so comfortable in your surroundings. Jumping out on faith and taking a risk could be extremely intimidating to most.

My life is just a large encyclopedia of risk. I’ve been a risk taker my entire life. Being a risk taker can be very bittersweet, because not only does your family and friends not understand the risk that you are willing to take but you yourself have to convince yourself that it’s the right choice for you and enjoy the ride.

My most recent risk was moving to the state of Georgia site, unseen to follow God‘s guidance and live in my true purpose. Now don’t get me wrong, I have moved to other states before site unseen, but that was many moons ago and before I became a mother. So embarking on this journey or as I should say risk was extremely terrifying yet fulfilling all at the same time, it’s something I really can’t explain. Now I’ve hit a lot of bumps in the road while taking this risk that I’m currently still in. I’ve hit just about every bump you could think of from losing our first place here because I trusted a friend of mine of over 20 years. Becoming homeless for a short period of time and then my car completely gave up on me. Thank God that I’ve been able to keep a job since moving here that has helped extremely, and that has taken a large weight off of my shoulders. Things were really really tough, but with God‘s favor, my faith and having my community behind me, no matter what happens, I can’t fail.

Because I lost almost everything within the first year of moving here, auditioning and the hustle of the business has fallen short for me due to those circumstances. But you have to keep reminding yourself of why you’re doing what you’re doing. Acting is my life, and I don’t know what I would do without it.

I have no doubt that the rewards coming our way (so that we can also bless others and their families) will be well worth the risk. No matter what happens. I know that I lived in my purpose, and I will be beyond satisfied with that. Right now I’m just slowly building my team.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, my art or shall I say my chosen purpose is acting. I have been acting since I was a little girl, whether I was performing in front of my family of friends or modeling in a bridal show, and pretending to be the star of the moment it has always been within me. I was born in Springfield, Illinois and raised there as well as Chicago Illinois. I got into modeling at a very young age and from there the passion to be on stage grew. Growing up I was always either in front of the camera or behind the camera. Either way I always wanted to capture a moment. Growing up I was always either in front of the camera or behind the camera. Either way I always wanted to capture a moment.Out of fear of rejection from my peers I declined getting into any acting or performing projects while in school. But the bug never left. After graduating high school I found myself in a domestic violence relationship, which shook my entire life as well as my families, but out of that toxic situation, one of the best things that ever happened to me was created, my oldest son John. People think I’m crazy when I say that I wouldn’t change a thing but I mean it, I wouldn’t change a thing. I learned so much about myself and the world while going through that and I’m blessed and happy to say that I’m a survivor and me being able to live and continue to go on and fulfill my dreams… my God I’m just so grateful.

In my mid 20s, I have my second son Nashawn, and I decided to dive head first into my dream and started taking acting classes and the craft more seriously. I had so much fun. I advise anyone who chooses acting or if you were chosen for acting to definitely take a few classes and make sure you study the history of the art to get a better understanding of how you are to use your instrument which is your entire body. From there, I decided to go for an audition that I had heard on the radio while living in Las Vegas. There was a black gospel play that Frances Hall and Antonio Fargas were collaborating on and were looking for actors. I was the last actor to audition on the final day of auditions and guess what, I landed the role of understudy for five different characters. I was so excited to just be part of the production in someway, but guess what?! As time went on, and it got closer to show day, I happen to be out to lunch with my boss and coworkers when I received a call from Mr. Antonio Fargas asking me if I would be the lead in the play. And boy I tell you there are no words that can describe how I felt in that moment, but the best one that comes to mine is grateful. I put my entire heart and soul into that production over the course of three years and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Shortly after, I actually shot my first movie ever with writer, producer, and director Terry Miles.

After years of doing that production, I decided to take a leap out on faith and do something that I had always wanted to do which was relocating to a town that I felt like fit me as not only a person but as a character and that just so happened to be Atlanta Georgia. So far with my career things have been great. I’ve shot several movies and have been featured in a few magazines. Isn’t that cool?! One of the last movies I shot was called The Bitter Sugar. It is currently available on Tubi. My most recent film is called Living in The Cemetery, and I play the role of Lieutenant Jeanette. I had so much fun playing this role. I was a doctor in the last production so stepping out of my box into an officer position was amazing.

What sets me a part is not only have I chosen acting, but acting has been chosen for me. I have no other choice, but to do it, it runs through my veins. The love I have for it can’t be explained. It’s a joy I feel when stepping on stage or getting in front of the camera that makes every bad moment just wash away with ease and my mind is finally calm and everything is great.

My proudest moment so far was seeing my name come across a movie screen for the first time and seeing my craft portrayed through this character and just being in disbelief, about the entire experience. It was truly magical.

I got where I am today by not being afraid to live out my dreams and just go for it. There aren’t many people who have had the opportunity to say that and I’m one of the lucky few who actually can. Oh, and I can’t forget my support system that’s a given lol.. and it wasn’t easy by long-shot. It’s been the complete opposite actually. But I honestly feel like it’s the difficulty comes from the circumstances that I have been put in, but besides that acting comes easy to me. There are still a lot and I mean a lot of things that I am yet to learn and I can’t wait to learn them.

For me the best way to overcome challenges is by facing them head…on challenges don’t last always. The key is you have to stay focused no matter what. There’s gonna be fear, frustration, joy, anger, and every other emotion you could possibly think of but it’s up to you on how you respond to those inconveniences that can make or break any situation including your physical and mental health. You have to be able to block out all the noise and remember what you’re doing it for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, my favorite spot is anywhere where other creators and like-minded people are gathered together. It’s a very safe and fulfilling space for me. I don’t go out much so I couldn’t tell you much about the city yet. I’m still fairly new coming from Las Vegas. But I can’t wait to see everything that the great city of Atlanta has to offer me and my family. This is just the beginning.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I would LOVE to thank God for never giving up on me and continuing to bless me and leading the way.I would like to give thanks to the man who gave me my first shot in the business, Terry “T” Miles. Thank you for having faith in me and we had just met. Special thank you to Frances Hall, Antonio Fargas and Dianna Saffold-Cooks who gave me my first shot at a lead role on stage. Also, Torrey Russell, Andrew Mays and Kenny OD for believing in me and pushing my limits and growth. You all have helped create magic when it coming my performance and I am forever grateful. I can’t forget my Angels…my Grandparents Betty, Rose, Alonzo and George, my children John & Nashawn, my cousin Shyniece, my closest friends EJ, Nikki & Krystal along with the rest of my family and loved ones. I have too many to name everyone but you know my heart. Huge shoutout to my youngest son has even caught the bug and is now writing, directing, producing and acting in his own mini-series on Youtube at Spazz101 @spazzy_boi. He is so creative, I am so proud of the little person he has grown to be, I can’t wait to see who he becomes. Make sure you check out both of our Youtube’s. Also a very special shout out to all of my family friends and loved ones back home in Springfield, Illinois, who are doing everything that they can to keep Sonya’s memory alive. I love you all and the fight will continue on. Long live Sonya. #sonyastrong💜
