We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantill Goree and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chantill, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business it was solely to give mothers the tools to style themselves in 30 minutes or less but to the outside world look as though they spent hours. After becoming a mother I seen how easy it was for us (as women) to lose ourselves. I also understood how important it is for us to remain true to who we are without feeling guilty about it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Well I stared off as a stylist in KC after moving from Chicago and the fashion scene is like day and night. Not only did I have to prove I belonged, they weren’t very welcoming. From styling stay at home mothers my clientele base slowly grew to everyday working women, professional athletes wives, and TV personalities. During that time I created what I call a Style Kit which is subscription based an allows me to bring fashion to everyone’s doorstep nation wide as business began to grow , I felt like I could touch more if I launched an online boutique… how hard could that be right? Boy was I wrong, it was extremely difficult and I couldn’t figure out how to market that side of the business to save my life. However, over time I started doing small shows, creating merchandise that was exclusive to NSOS such as our “I influence” and “Confidence is Beauty“ tees and it before I knew it business began to grow. Which lead to opening my Showroom in Downtown KC June 2020. We created our very own line of women’s work wear in addition to carrying many other contemporary brands. Everything is appointment based allowing our clients to shop freely on their own and receiving that personal one on one experience, which has been a crowd favorite!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Naturally I’d take them to my Showroom first. We’d have lunch at Mildred’s which sits directly across the street from us on our quiet corner of 9th and Baltimore and then explore the River Market. This area has great shops, cool vibes and just a great place to be. For dinner we’d go to Fox and Pearl they have the BEST fried chicken in the city in my opinion, hands down! We’d head to the South Suburbs to Rye for cocktails or in my case mocktails as I’m currently expecting a baby girl in January. The rest of our time would be spent at home, because what’s better then quality time when you’re with people you love!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Daronne has been my biggest fan and greatest supporter. He’s literally my backbone. Anytime I’ve felt like quitting or became discouraged he always found the words to help me dig deep and become better, stronger, wiser as it pertains to business. Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso also lit a spark in me her hustle was extremely inspiring.
