We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantelle Morgan & Reba Liddy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chantelle Morgan & Reba Liddy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We were great at planning events for our friends and family and decided it would be a great idea to turn it into a business. As two Caribbean-American women, we created Alinone Weddings & Events to provide our clients with an unforgettable, unmatched celebration. We strive to elevate each event to the next level with every intricate detail.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a full-service planning company. We plan corporate, social and educational events. Our services span from planning baby showers, weddings, galas, luncheons or birthday parties. We hope to be an inspiration to other black girls and women that may be interested in starting their own business.

What sets us apart from other businesses is our integrity and loyalty to our clients. We will always operate in their best interest. Like many other companies, the pandemic forced us to reassess our business and find creative ways to impact our community, while keeping our doors open. Thankfully, we’ve had the opportunity to continue our services and partner with other black-owned businesses.

We are currently planning the For the Culture Festival in Atlanta at the Legacy Center. We wanted to turn our pain into a movement and celebrate Black joy and our beautiful culture. This event was conceptualized in June 2020, we were tired of taking on the heaviness of feeling unseen and unheard. We wanted to turn it around and celebrate the beauty, freedom and culture of Black people. This event will promote black-owned businesses, community activists and local artists. We plan on donating a percentage of our proceeds to two local causes for combating sex trafficking and advancing prostate cancer research.

When we were planning out this event, we came up with the motto, “Juneteenth is more than just a day, it’s a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our ancestors to have the freedom to live, to own, to educate, and to excel in a society that was built by us, but not for us.”

We are doing this for us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start off with brunch at Milk & Honey, and later go skating at the infamous Cascade and then we would finish up the night at Tastee Spoon for some good vibes and great Jamaican food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to shoutout our friends and family that have encouraged us throughout this process. As you may know, having a business takes hard work and without the support of our close friends and family, we would not be here today.
