Meet Chantae Lewis | Allaroundchantae Hair Salon

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantae Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chantae, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When contemplating the inception of my own company, I embraced a philosophy centered on faith and the belief that success often favors those willing to take calculated risks. This conviction guided my entrepreneurial journey, anchoring me in the determination to forge ahead despite uncertainties.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Tell us more about your work. What sets you apart from others, and what are you most proud of or excited about?
As a hair salon owner, I pride myself on delivering exceptional service tailored to each client’s unique needs and preferences. What sets us apart is our commitment to staying updated with the latest trends, techniques, and products in the industry. We prioritize continuous education and training for our stylists to ensure they can provide cutting-edge services. I’m most proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with our clients over the years. Their satisfaction and trust in our expertise are what drive us to excel every day.
How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Achieving success in the hair salon industry wasn’t easy, but it was certainly rewarding. It required dedication, hard work, and a passion for my craft. I started by gaining experience working in various salons, honing my skills and learning the ins and outs of running a business. Along the way, I faced challenges such as fierce competition, economic fluctuations, and evolving customer preferences. To overcome these obstacles, I remained adaptable, innovative, and resilient. I constantly sought feedback from clients, stayed abreast of industry trends, and invested in marketing and branding strategies to differentiate my salon from others.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Throughout my journey as a salon owner, I’ve learned invaluable lessons that have shaped my approach to business and leadership. Firstly, customer satisfaction is paramount; building strong relationships with clients fosters loyalty and drives growth. Secondly, continuous learning and adaptation are essential in an ever-changing industry; staying stagnant is not an option. Thirdly, effective communication and teamwork are crucial for a successful salon environment; empowering and supporting my team ensures we can deliver exceptional service consistently. Lastly, resilience and perseverance are key; setbacks are inevitable, but it’s how we respond to them that determines our success in the long run.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? Our brand embodies a legacy of passion for hairstyling, rooted in generations of expertise passed down through my family. Every client who walks through our doors receives not just a service, but an experience crafted with care and precision. We pride ourselves on fostering a sense of community and empowerment, where each individual can feel confident and beautiful. Our story is one of dedication, creativity, and a deep-seated love for the craft of hairdressing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For a week-long trip with my best friend, I’d ensure they experience the best of our area. We’d start with breakfast at The Gathering Spot, a vibrant social club known for its diverse community and delicious food. Then, we’d explore the Atlanta Botanical Garden, reveling in the beauty of nature and maybe attending one of their special events.
For lunch, we’d head to Busy Bee Cafe, an iconic spot serving up mouthwatering soul food. In the afternoon, we’d visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, delving into the rich history and impactful stories of our nation.
In the evenings, we’d indulge in cocktails at Two Urban Licks, enjoying live music and the energetic atmosphere. For dinner, it’s all about Paschal’s Restaurant, a historic landmark known for its Southern hospitality and flavorful cuisine.
As for must-see people and places in the beauty industry here in Georgia, I’d recommend connecting with influential figures like Mushiya Tshikuka, owner of The Damn Salon, and Maya Smith, founder of The Doux. These entrepreneurs have made significant contributions to the beauty landscape in our state.
For those interested in entrepreneurship, marketing, and financial literacy classes, Atlanta offers a wealth of resources. The Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship provides comprehensive programs to help budding entrepreneurs succeed. Additionally, organizations like the Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative offer workshops and networking opportunities tailored specifically for women business owners.
For mastering taxes and building business credit, I’d suggest looking into courses offered by local community colleges or professional organizations like SCORE. These resources provide invaluable knowledge and support for entrepreneurs navigating the financial aspects of running a business.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wish to extend my gratitude to the lineage of skilled cosmetologists in my family, tracing back to my great-great-grandmother, Nora Bell, whose profound love for hairstyling left an indelible mark on my mother, Carla Lewis, subsequently influencing me, Chantae Lewis. Now, as I see my daughter, Chaniyah Nelson, embark on her journey into cosmetology school this fall, I am filled with immense joy knowing that our legacy continues to thrive and inspire.
