We had the good fortune of connecting with Pat Ellington and CC Witt of Lyn Avenue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pat and CC, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
For fully independent artists like ourselves there is a tremendous amount of work to be done “off of the stage”. Playing shows is probably only 10% of what we have to do on a daily basis. We are constantly booking, scheduling, working on social media etc. The other thing is all the driving we have to do! We are basically part-time van dwellers.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are a husband and wife duo from Savannah, Georgia and have been playing together for nearly 13 years! We started writing songs together as teenagers. Originally, we were more of a pop band but after CC wrote a song called “Everyday Guardian Angel”, a distinctly country ballad, we knew that we had found our new sound and direction.
Ever since, we have used our experiences of growing up in the deep south to tell our personal stories. For example, our song ” Hurricane Bride” tells the story of how our wedding was postponed by a hurricane back in 2017. When that happened we were naturally quite upset but we ended up having a small party with all of the booze that we had purchased for the wedding! When life gave us lemons, we made whiskey sours.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
On a recent trip to Atlanta, we were invited to come eat at Tiny Lou’s, a brasserie in the Hotel Clermont. Pat’s good friend, Jon Novak, is the executive chef. Jon served us and some friends what must’ve been ten courses (we lost count!) of French inspired dishes that just left us all speechless. It was by far the best culinary experience we have had in Atlanta! And they have an awesome wine and whiskey selection! Highly recommended!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s been so many people help us throughout our career that it is hard to name just one! However, we’d like to give a shoutout to Peter Mavrogeorgis from Dollhouse Productions. Peter has produced and mixed our last two EP’s and has been so instrumental in helping us find “our sound”. We’re currently working on some new things with Peter that we are so excited to share with our fans in the near future!
