We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Cheeky Maiden Soap Co. was started in 2006 with a passion and desire to create natural soaps that are safe for the whole family to use and yet still affordable. We when we learned how commercial mass-produced soap, body care products and cleaning products were made, we had to make a change. We knew there had to be a better, safer way to make these products for our family.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The traditional cold process way of making soap has been around for centuries. At Cheeky Maiden Soap we made a commitment that we would ONLY use ingredients found in nature, that we would only use premium quality wholesome, sustainable ingredients and that we would NEVER waver in our resolve to use any harsh man-made chemicals in our products. Our soaps are filled with super moisturizing ingredients like olive oil, coconut oil and shea butter. By using only herbs, roots, clays and essential oils it gives our soap a refreshing sight and smell!

We’ve learned that the beauty care industry can be very misleading. Have you ever read the back of your shampoo bottle? I always tell folks if you can’t pronounce it or you wouldn’t eat it then don’t put it on your body. We strive to bring transparency to the personal care and cleaning market by providing truly 100% all-natural, affordable alternatives to everyday products. We create everything you need to avoid the chemical laden soap, cleaners, and body care products that are found in the store.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Little Farmhouse Cafe is my favorite place to eat hands down. The owners are good people who work hard and create beautiful delicious food. My family and I love hiking so after a big breakfast we’d head to North Georgia to scope out some great trails and probably find a waterfall or 2.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I tend to question every little thing I do which can lead to inaction. Sometimes I get stuck and can’t move forward because I lack the confidence to just jump in. I want all the details lined up just perfectly before I make a move. My husband is the exact opposite. He’ll jump in feet first and figure it out as he goes. He’s definitely pushes me to be better, do better and create better things. Our entire motivation behind Cheeky Maiden is to love other people. Sometimes relationships and people can be difficult and put you in sticky situations but we are diving in and figuring it out as we go.
