We had the good fortune of connecting with Cason Ogletree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cason, what is the most important factor behind your success?
An important theme of success is tunnel vision when it comes to creating in order to be authentically you. You can’t rely on what anybody else is doing. One person can do one thing, while the next could do it and not get the same result. The key to success is not deviating from the core values that inspire you. If you start to bend and fold to the thoughts of others, eventually everything that makes you special will get lost. Another necessary component to guarantee success in your creativity is cultivating persistence and consistency. Creating through whatever is going on in your life is a must. Using whatever emotions you are having to push you, even if they are more difficult, will propel you forward.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to my art, its definitely important for me to have a hands on approach. Attention to details such as fashion, sets and specifically dynamic lighting is what I love about what I do. Fashion is especially important to me when it come to my photography and it is never overlooked. Some photographers might just capture what’s in front of them, but I always make sure what my clients are wearing is a piece that makes a statement and embodies greatness. A recurring theme in my photography is power. When people come to me they understand that they are going to leave with photos that have them looking poised and confident, while also conveying whatever story they came to me to convey. Getting to where I am today was not easy. Circling back again to my last answer on the first question that was asked, it took a lot of tunnel vision. Always sticking to me even when other photographers might have been going another way. Another key that I’ve learned along the way would be the importance of learning. When you feel like you have everything figured out, that usually means you don’t. Always being in the mood to learn new techniques and ways of shooting has helped me develop over the years and stay relevant.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was visiting, this would be the game plan for the week! To start out, I would treat my friends to a nice brunch at Rock Steady in West Midtown. We’d enjoy the amazing food and have laughs over the bottomless mimosas. Then we’d walk around midtown and see where the day takes us. Following that, later in the week, I would take them to Barcelona wine bar for dinner. Also located in West Midtown this place has a great ambiance that is never disappointing. Afterward, I’d take them to the Garden Room Buckhead for drinks and desert. If the night was still young, we might head toward go to the regent cocktail club for more drinks and a nice cap to the weekend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
James Belk with Belk Consulting group would be someone that I would like to Shoutout. Its one thing being creative, but running a successful business takes strategic planning, and James definitely brought that important factor to life. He helped organize all of my ideas as a creative into a usable business plan that I still use to this day to keep my business thriving.
